The conflict between the two fierce generals of the Xiang Army caused Zeng Guofan a headache, and Hu Linyi persuaded them to make peace

Among the Xiang army created by Zeng Guofan, there were two fierce generals, known as "Duolong Baohu".

"Doron" refers to Dorona.

Dolonga, Zi Litang, Huerlat clan, Manchurian Zhengbai banner, born in 1817. Dolonga did not initially belong to the Xiang Army. In 1853, during the Northern Expedition of the Taiping Army, the Qing army mobilized prince Gelinqin to lead the Eight Banners army to besiege, and Duolonga immediately entered Guannei to fight against the Taiping Army. In 1855, Duolonga led his troops into Hubei to cooperate with the Xiang Army, and accepted the moderation of Hubei's Inspector Hu Linyi, officially becoming a member of the Xiang Army.

"Bao Hu" refers to Bao Chao.

Bao Chao, also spelled Chun Ting, was born in 1828 in Anping Lotang, Fuzhou (present-day Fengjie, Chongqing). In 1852, The Minister of Qincha Xiang Rong recruited an army in Yichang, Hubei Province, to pacify the Taiping Army, and Bao Chao joined this army. In 1854, when Zeng Guofan founded the Xiang Army, he took a fancy to Bao Chao's bravery in battle, summoned him to his subordinates, and became a general of the Xiang Army. After 1855, Bao Chao was ordered to participate in the reconquest of Wuchang and accepted the moderation of Hu Linyi, the governor of Hubei.

Both Doron a and Bao Chao are known for daring to fight hard battles and making many achievements. When they fought in Hubei, Jiangxi, Anhui and other places, they cooperated with tacit understanding and defeated the Taiping Army many times. Both Zeng Guofan and Hu Linyi praised them and reported to the imperial court to ask for merit and reward for them. In 1859, however, something unpleasant happened between them.

In those years, Zeng Guofan, Hu Linyi and others led the Xiang army to fight fiercely against the Taiping Army in Anhui. The Xiang army was intent on besieging the anhui capital of Anqing. Before besieging Anqing, it was necessary to clear the outer positions. Therefore, in early February 1859, the Xiang Army arrived in Taihu County, west of Anqing, and launched an attack on the Taiping Army stationed in Taihu County.

At that time, the Xiang Army purchased a batch of foreign guns and cannons, and its strength increased greatly. However, the county seat of Taihu Lake is surrounded by rivers on all sides, forming a natural moat, making it difficult for the Xiang Army to exert the power of foreign guns and cannons. The two sides have been facing each other in Taihu County for half a year. In the autumn, Chen Yucheng, a famous general of the Taiping Army, sat in Qianshan and successively increased his troops to aid the county seat of Taihu County. If this situation continues, the Xiang army will suffer setbacks.

At this time, the Jingzhou general Du Xing'a, who was in charge of unified command, left the battlefield because of illness. The three armies involved in the attack belonged to the command of Duolong'a, Bao Chao, and Tang Xunfang, and for a while they fell into the predicament of being leaderless. Obviously, it is necessary to select one of the three people from Duolonga, Bao Chao, and Tang Xunfang to serve as the manager in order to continue fighting.

So who will be the manager? Tang Xunfang was then in Hubei Grain Road, was a civilian official, and did not have the conditions to be a commander. Doron a and Bao Chao are both battle-hardened players, both with the ability and level to serve as managers, which makes Hu Linyi feel very embarrassed.

In fact, according to Zeng Guofan's meaning, it is to choose Bao Chao as the manager. Because Dolonga was from the Eight Banners, it was difficult for Zeng Guofan to mobilize his command. However, after repeated consideration and consideration, Hu Linyi decided that Duolong'a would serve as the commander of fuzhou as the deputy capital and command the three armies in a unified manner. This means that Bao Chao and Tang Xunfang are under the control of Duolong'a.

Bao Chao, of course, was not convinced and had a conflict with Dolonga. This caused Zeng Guofan a headache. At present, the two fierce generals in their own camp are not harmonious, which is bound to affect morale and the development of the war situation. Hu Linyi was also worried and decided to personally go out to reconcile the contradictions between Duolonga and Bao Chao.

Soon, Hu Linyi came to Taihu County and invited Bao Chao and Duolong Adu to meet. Hu Linyi gave them kind words of encouragement, especially Bao Chao, and moved them with affection and reason. Under the temptation of Hu Linyi, Bao Chao and Duo Long'a shook hands and made peace.

As it turned out, Hu Linyi was right to appoint Doron a manager.

Duolong'a changed his previous tactics, no longer blindly attacking Taihu County, but adopting the method of besieging the city to provide reinforcements, first attacking the reinforcements of the Taiping Army sent by Chen Yucheng. In January and February 1860, Dolonga defeated the Taiping Reinforcements twice at DilingGang and Luoshanchong. Chen Yucheng personally took command, but to no avail, the whole line was defeated.

When the Taiping army reinforcements were defeated and retreated, the Taiping army defenders in Taihu County had no intention of fighting. On 17 February, Doronga commanded an army to capture the county seat of Taihu.

After that, Dolonga took part in the protracted Battle of Anqing. In this battle, Zeng Guoquan led his troops to attack Anqing, and Duolong'a led his troops to block the Taiping army reinforcements. In order to lift the siege of Anqing, Hong Xiuquan sent Chen Yucheng, Hong Renjiu, Lin Shaozhang and others to lead a large army to the rescue, but was blocked by Duolong'a on the outskirts of Anqing, and could not get one step closer to Anqing, which made great contributions to the victory of the Battle of Anqing. Of course, Doronga also paid a great price for this.

After the Xiang army occupied Luzhou, Zeng Guofan wanted to send Duolong'a to attack Nanjing. However, Duolong'a believed that he had contributed the most in the Battle of Anqing, but the reward was not as good as Zeng Guoquan, and he was unwilling to accept the command of Zeng Guofan, and Hu Linyi had already died of illness, so he left the Xiang army.

Soon, Under the dispatch of the Qing court, Duolong'a entered Shaanxi as a minister of Chincha and supervised the military affairs of Shaanxi, and died in Shaanxi in the later battle.
