In 1989, 17 winter-warmed vegetable greenhouses were built in Sanyuanzhu Village, Sunjiaji Town, Shouguang County at that time, and out-of-season vegetables such as cucumbers were planted. After the successful trial planting that year, after the cucumber was listed, the price was more expensive than pork, and there were more than 100,000 yuan households in the village at once, which caused a sensation in the local area. Subsequently, winter warm vegetable greenhouses were promoted in Shouguang County, growing to 5,000 in 1990, soaring to 25,000 in 1991, and 75,000 in 1992... By 1995, there were nearly 200,000 winter-warmed vegetable greenhouses in Shouguang.
The promotion of winter warm greenhouses has set off a "white" revolution in northern China, ending the history of single types of vegetables and shortages in winter and spring in the north. Since then, Shouguang has begun the situation of "evergreen in one year, vegetables in all seasons", relying on greenhouse vegetables, Shouguang people quickly became rich, and Shouguang also quickly grew from a poor county to a top economically strong county in the country, becoming "the hometown of Chinese vegetables".

In 2000, the first China (Shouguang) International Vegetable Science and Technology Expo (referred to as short) was held in Shouguang, marking that Shouguang's vegetables have gone to the world. Today, the Vegetable Expo has been successfully held for 21 sessions, becoming the engine of local economic take-off and an important carrier for innovating and upgrading the "Shouguang Model".
In a certain sense, it can be said that the winter warm greenhouse of that year achieved the current Shouguang. In the origin and promotion of the winter warm greenhouse at that time, there were several meritorious figures who had to be mentioned, one was Wang Boxiang, who was the secretary of the Shouguang County Party Committee at the time, and the other was Wang Leyi, who was then the secretary of Sanyuan Zhu Village. In addition, there is a person who is not well known to people, his name is Han Yongshan, who was the technical consultant of the winter warm vegetable greenhouse in Sanyuan Zhu Village at that time, and made important contributions to the promotion of winter warm vegetable greenhouses and anti-seasonal cucumbers. The reason why it is not known is that Han Yongshan died of illness in 1993, shortly after the winter warm vegetable greenhouse was promoted and fully bloomed in Shouguang.
On April 20, the 22nd Edition of the Food Expo will open. On the eve of the opening of the Vegetable Expo, a group of reporters from the public network came to the home of Zhou Wanzhen, Han Yongshan's wife, who now lives in Shouguang City, to review the years of hard struggle and listen to what she called Han Yongshan's "Master Han".
Just had knee surgery,
Many years of leg disease was cured
On the morning of April 14, when a reporter from the public network came to Zhou Wanzhen's home in Sanli Community in Shouguang City, she was bedridden. Seeing that someone was coming, Zhou Wanzhen carefully got up and slowly walked to the living room. Someone next to her tried to help her, but she refused. "Don't help me, I can." Although she is more than 70 years old, the determination revealed in the old lady's words is admirable.
"I just had surgery on this leg, and it's not very convenient to move now, and it will be better to turn a month in a few days." Zhou Wanzhen rubbed his left leg on the knee and said, "Thanks to the party and the government, Zhang Luozhi did surgery on me, I did my right leg a few years ago, and then I did my left leg a few years ago, my two legs have been in pain for 6 years, and now it finally doesn't hurt." ”
The reporter learned that Zhou Wanzhen did a meniscus replacement surgery. In August 2020, the Shouguang Municipal Health Bureau and community workers accompanied her to the hospital for a health examination, learned that Zhou Wanzhen had knee pain for many years, and coordinated with many parties to arrange for her to undergo surgery.
Zhou Wanzhen has a son and a daughter, the daughter works in the agricultural system, the son and daughter-in-law are in the water system, the two little grandchildren are lively and lovely, one is in primary school, one is in kindergarten, and the family is plain and happy.
"I pay living expenses every month, and I spend enough of myself." My son lives downstairs and comes up to see me from time to time. People from the welfare home come to clean me up every week, and the community and the Civil Affairs Bureau come to see me every New Year's Day. Now the government has cured me of my leg pain for many years, and I am very grateful. Zhou Wanzhen's life is now calm and monotonous, and only when the three words "Han Yongshan" are mentioned, there will be a slight fluctuation in her eyes that have always been unfazed.
Two pounds of fresh cucumbers in winter,
Let Sanyuan Zhu Village boil over a Spring Festival
Time back to the 1980s. Han Yongshan and Zhou Wanzhen are also ordinary villagers in Taotun Village, Wafangdian City, Dalian City, Liaoning Province, and have built vegetable greenhouses to grow cucumbers in the mountainous areas they have contracted. Han Yongshan has a flexible brain and likes to think. He rationally made use of the geographical advantages of his own contracted Tian Shan Bao, and after excavating and repairing the southern slope of Chaoyang, he adopted the way of "deep nest" to avoid cold, "Chaoyang" heat absorption and plastic film "covering" to keep warm, and built a simple vegetable greenhouse facing north and south.
The old Han family's cucumber production is high and growing well, and when it comes to the shed, there will be vegetable vendors from all over the country who come to visit. Among them, Wang Xinmin, a villager from Shouguang Sanyuan Zhu Village in Weifang, was one of them at that time.
According to Zhou Wanzhen's recollection, Wang Xinmin once went to the old Han family three times to wholesale cucumbers and shipped them back to Shandong to sell, making a lot of money. Looking at Han Yongshan's greenhouse and the output of thousands of catties at a time, Wang Xinmin came up with new ideas.
On the eve of the Spring Festival in 1989, Wang Xinmin, who had been selling vegetables outside for many years, put the two pounds of cucumbers brought back from the old Han family on the table of his cousin Wang Leyi. During the cold winter month, looking at these two pounds of fresh cucumbers, Wang Leyi was both shocked and delighted. Vegetable greenhouses were not new at the time, but it was the first time he had heard of cucumbers grown when it was so cold.
At that time, Shouguang was still a poor county, as the village secretary, Wang Leyi's first priority was to take the villagers to live a good life, and these two pounds of cucumbers gave him inspiration: compared with the northeast, Shouguang's conditions were much better. The terrain is flat, the soil is good, there is a vegetable base, the climate is mild, and the northeast can grow such a watery anti-seasonal cucumber, and Shouguang can certainly do it.
Just after the Spring Festival, Wang Leyi took Wang Xinmin and several other villagers all the way north to Liaoning, and the purpose of their trip was only one: to invite Han Yongshan out of the mountains and come to Shouguang to guide and promote the greenhouses that could grow cucumbers in winter.
Lao Han sold his family property and was determined to break through to Shouguang
Zhou Wanzhen said that Lao Han does not have much culture, but he is good at research, and by planting out-of-season cucumbers, the family has a good life. "There are incomes, greenhouses and cars, and the conditions in the village are very good." So when they came to ask Lao Han to go to Shouguang, our whole family was unwilling, and Lao Han himself was unwilling. ”
At that time, Shouguang was really short of technicians like Lao Han, and Wang Leyi and his party ate the closed door soup without being discouraged. In the first half of 1989, they ran to the northeast again and again to seek advice from Old Han. The last time, Wang Xinmin came to Lao Han's house and said to Lao Han, "I bought you a ferry ticket, you follow me to Shouguang to have a look, just as a tourist." When Han Yongshan heard that it was good to go on a tour once when the farmer was idle, he followed Wang Xinmin to Shouguang.
When he arrived at Sanyuan Zhu Village, Lao Han was moved: the land here is too good, the soil is good, and the planting greenhouses are perfectly suitable. Back in the northeast, Lao Han sold sheds and cars, ready to go to Shouguang to do a big job. "He did it too suddenly, didn't consult with me, or the neighbor told me that by the time I rushed home with the kids, the car and shed had been installed and pulled away. He was so determined to leave that I hadn't spoken to him for half a month. ”
Winter warm greenhouses in Shouguang great success,
It triggered the "white" revolution in northern agriculture
In July 1989, Lao Han came to Shouguang Sanyuan Zhu Village with the money from selling sheds and cars and his family's savings for many years, and together with the villagers, he set up 17 winter-warmed greenhouses to grow cucumbers. Zhou Wanzhen did not come together because of gambling, and only rushed from the northeast when the cucumber was grafted in October. "Angry to angry, cucumber grafting is a big deal, I have to come and get it with him."
The greenhouses were all built with loans from the villagers, and many people had concerns, and Lao Han patted his chest to assure them: He would definitely make the greenhouses successful! Han Yongshan leaned into the greenhouse day and night, and became the technical consultant of the whole village, and whoever needed him would go to the house, too busy to get to the ground.
Under the unremitting efforts of Han Yongshan and others, during the New Year's Day in 1990, the winter warm greenhouses in Sanyuanzhu Village were a great success, and the cucumbers not only doubled in production, but also the quality was very good, and there were more than 100,000 yuan households in the village at once, which made Shouguang, which was still a poor county at that time, boil.
As a great hero, Han Yongshan received a heavy reward from the county: 80,000 yuan in cash, a 120-square-meter housing set, the whole family "turned from farming to non-agriculture", equipped with a jeep... He has been hired as a consultant of Shouguang Vegetable Office and the director of vegetable office, and recommended as a labor model in Weifang City.
Immediately afterward, delegations from all over the country followed, and many places also offered to hire him heavily. However, Han Yongshan was very affectionate and righteous, and he was grateful for the generous treatment given to him by Shouguang, and decided to stay in Shouguang to continue to promote the winter warm greenhouse, and also took the whole family over.
After that, Han Yongshan, together with Wang Leyi and others, drove the jeep to various townships every day to promote and guide the winter warm greenhouses, and he taught his skills to every vegetable farmer without reservation, covering more than 300 villages in the south of Shouguang. By the end of 1990, in just one year, Shouguang's winter warm vegetable greenhouses had grown from 17 to 5,800 by leaps and bounds.
Shou Guang is up,
Old Han died darkly
Starting from Sanyuan Zhu Village, winter warm vegetable greenhouses mushroomed in various townships and villages in Shouguang, and in three years, it increased to 75,000, and gradually radiated to Shandong Province and even all over the country, "Shouguang Vegetables" began to go to the whole country, and Shouguang gradually became the largest vegetable production base in the country.
Shou Guang became rich, but Han Yongshan fell. After years of high-intensity running and fatigue, his health became worse and worse, often running from township to town during the day and going home at night to play hanging bottles. "Lao Han's stomach is not good, since 1992, he has felt uncomfortable, weak, unable to eat, non-stop injections and medicines are always not good." I let him rest and rest, he was reluctant to shed, reluctant to his career, or run around every day. Zhou Wanzhen said.
In September 1992, because she always did not see well, Zhou Wanzhen took Han Yongshan to the big hospital for examination, and the results of the examination made her miserable: Han Yongshan was suffering from liver cancer. "The doctor said it was too late to last a few months. I feel that the sky is about to fall, old Han has no parents when he is 9 years old, grew up in the village committee compound, those years are busy making greenhouses every day, it is easy to live a good life for two days, and I have this disease, I am hurting him. ”
Zhou Wanzhen did not tell Old Han the truth, saying that he was still suffering from a stomach disease and needed to recuperate. This time, Lao Han listened to her words and lived quietly in the hospital for a year until his death on November 28, 1993. When Han Yongshan was seriously ill, Zhou Wanzhen once asked him: Do you regret coming to Shouguang? Han Yongshan replied: No regrets.
Today, more than 30 years later, Shouguang has long become one of the top 100 counties in the country with GDP and the "hometown of Chinese vegetables" approved by the State Council. Although Han Yongshan could not see this scene, the people of Shouguang would not forget him.
After Han Yongshan's death, Zhou Wanzhen continued to live in Shouguang with her two children. Nowadays, both children have stable jobs and harmonious families, and Zhou Wanzhen is also well taken care of, which should be the greatest comfort for Han Yongshan. (Reporter: Sun Yonglian)
