In the previous part, we talked about Fu Sinian acting as the president of Peking University and dealing with people, and now we will talk about his "supervision of the imperial history" to fight evil officials.
Ousted two Chief Executives
In the winter of 1941, the Japanese army captured Hong Kong. Chen Yinke, who was trapped here, rushed to the airport with his family and prepared to flee by plane sent by the Nationalist government. Rumbling artillery fire was approaching the airport, and he was about to board the plane when he was stopped by bodyguards. It turned out to be an order from Miss Kong Er, the daughter of Kong Xiangxi, a high-ranking Kuomintang official. At the moment of life and death, she commanded the domestic servants, stuffed the old mother, foreign dogs, toilets and bed boards into the plane, and then left the desperate Chen Yinke and the dignitaries from all walks of life and fled. At this time, a middle-aged man in Chongqing,
He was anxiously waiting for the news of "rushing luck", when he learned that the fate of the national treasure-level master was uncertain, because the family of the high-ranking official took the position of the plane with foreign dogs. This tough and domineering Shandong Han was furious: "Kill Kong Xiangxi to thank the world!"
This righteous indignation is none other than Fu Si Nian. Indeed, Kong's reputation has long been bad, in his 11 years as an important government official, there were 6 major cases of corruption and perverting the law. He was Chiang Kai-shek's brother-in-law and the president of the Executive Yuan.
This seat was the head of the National Government, a high-ranking official among high-ranking officials. What kind of magnate is the Confucius family? One of the four major families of the Republic of China, in charge of the lifeblood of the country's economy, can be described as the power of the world.
In 1944, Fu Sinian challenged Kong Xiangxi, president of the Executive Yuan, at the Suffragette Meeting, exposing Kong's corruption and fraud, and calling him a relative of the emperor and the state. Afterwards, Chiang Kai-shek personally invited him to dinner. Chiang Kai-shek asked, "Do you trust me?" Fu Si Nian replied, "I absolutely trust." Chiang Kai-shek said, "Since you trust me, you should trust the people I appoint." Fu Sinian immediately said, "I trust the chairman of the committee, and as for saying that because I trust you, I should trust the people you appoint, then I can't say the same thing about cutting off my head." On February 15, 1947 and February 22, 1947, two articles were published respectively: "Such a Song Ziwen must go away (the page archives are backed up, stored in the Internet Archives)" and "The Failure of Song Ziwen", criticizing song Ziwen, the chief executive at the time: "Since the War of Resistance, who are all those who have made money in the country? According to objective observation, the people who buy the most foreign exchange and gold are the ones who get rich. "It forced Song Ziwen to step down."
President of National Taiwan University
In 1948, the Kuomintang fell apart, Fu Sinian went to Taiwan with Chiang Kai-shek, and on December 15, 1948, the Nanjing Executive Yuan approved the resignation of President Zhuang Changgong of National Taiwan University, and at the same time published the personnel case of President Fu Sinian. On January 5, 1949, Chen Cheng took over the helm of the Taiwan Provincial Government, and on the same day he called Fu Sinian that "my brother has taken over the matter first today, and I am afraid that the joint efforts of those who have knowledge can be helped." The younger brother could not leave the stage for a while, and Mr. Xi came to Taiwan quickly and suffered great hardships." [8]. He flew to Taipei on January 19 and took over as president of National Taiwan University on January 20 from Acting President Du Mingming (acting since December 7, 1948). At the time of the crisis, he actively "reborn the Taiwan University." Fu Sinian, who sat on the chair of the president of NTU, once again displayed the ability to dare to fight hard and "ride on the tiger's back in advance", and really made a drastic transformation of the NTU accumulation habit, no matter whose strips and doorways were passed, how hard the backstage was, and all the professors who did not meet the academic standards and abused the number of professors were expelled from the school. The staff of the school, especially the medical staff left behind during the original "Imperial University", who have no medical knowledge, do not know what it is to save lives and help the injured, and only want their own salary and treatment, will be dismissed. Within a few months, Fu Si Nian rounded the knife of power in his hand, "clicked" like a watermelon, cut off more than seventy unqualified professors and staff, and drove them out of the campus. Since then, NTU has taken on a new look and formed a vigorous and upward situation. Many years later, whether it is Fu's pursuers or the opponents who were driven away, while recalling this past, they have to admit that without Fu Sinian, it would be unimaginable and impossible for National Taiwan University to rise rapidly in such a turbulent situation and lay the foundation for a modern university in a short period of time.
"Bones to Tayokojima"

In December 1948, when Beijing was about to be occupied by Chinese communist forces, Fu Si Nian got the government's consent to send two planes to rescue Beijing's eminent scholars who wanted to flee to the south. However, most of the scholars on the rescue list were indifferent to the invitation to flee, and only a few of them boarded the plane. When Fu Si Nian greeted the plane at Nanjing Airport, he cried in disappointment when he saw that there were only a few passengers in the cabin. Learning that Nanjing also soon fell into the hands of the CCP, Fu Sinian carried a large number of sleeping pills. After hearing the news that his two old friends Chen Bray and Duan Xipeng had committed suicide, Fu Sinian decided to dedicate himself to the "old dynasty". Thanks to his wife's intervention, he was saved from suicide. In January 1949, Fu Wasnian was appointed president of National Taiwan University. Although Fu Si Nian only worked at NTU for less than two years, he remained the most memorable figure in any subsequent poll at NTU. In order to commemorate Fu Si Nian's Fu Garden and Fu Si Nian Hall, the Fu Bell that rings every hour makes NTU students remember their principal Fu Si Nian.
When the white terror was rife, Fu Si Nian tried his best to maintain academic dignity and resist the police intrusion into the NTU campus. His famous quote was: I run a university, and I don't "run the police" at the same time. He resisted arresting students without sufficient evidence and succeeded in freeing many innocent students.
In 1949, Fu Si Nian wrote a scroll: "Bones to the island of Tayoko." "I don't mean to say a word. In Taiwan, psychological anxiety and harsh living environment seriously damaged his health. He once said he "suddenly went from adolescence to old age." On December 20, 1950, Guo Guoji, a representative of the Taiwan Provincial Senate nicknamed "Guo Dacang", questioned the administration of the National Taiwan University, causing Fu Si Nian to die suddenly of high blood pressure. Fu Sinian was once a world-famous "Fu Cannon", but finally died under the bombardment of another "Cannon". At 11:23 p.m. on December 20, 1950, Fu Sinian died, and on December 22, Fu Sinian's body was buried, and since 7:00 a.m., scholars, celebrities, and officials who had come to mourn came one after another, including Yu Youren, Chen Cheng, Wang Zhonghui, Jiang Menglin, Luo Jialun, Wang Shijie, Zhu Jiahua, Li Ji, Dong Zuobin, Qian Mu, and so on. Funeral homes have almost no place to stand.
Reporter Yu Heng recalled: "The death of Mr. Fu Sinian is the most sincere and touching scene I have seen in the twenty-five years of my interviews. Chiang Kai-shek personally wrote a prayer for him: "The Table of The Lost Teacher of the Nation."
Fu Sinian's achievements in promoting and building the modern academic system are indispensable, and the intellectual personality he upholds is also worthy of being solemnly remembered by all Chinese people.
Perhaps the Kuomintang big man Yu Youren's tie-up is the best summary of his life's achievements: "It is the sub-road, it is Yan Hui, it is the strong man in the world; it is for freedom, for justice, and for the youth of the times." ”
I would like to dedicate this article to Fu Sinian, the "Imperial History of Supervision" of the Republic of China.
