"How to Be Home": Seeing the indifference of the world and the hardships of life, the forgotten war two, the people under the fire of war three, the women at the bottom

When the film "What a Home" was released in China, the phrase "I will sue my parents because they gave birth to me" on the movie poster hit the hearts of countless people. But after watching the movie, I found that this story is completely different from the life we are familiar with.

We often say that we live in times of peace, and we always think that the world is peaceful and safe. But in fact, after the end of World War II, although there was no global large-scale war, the war in local areas never stopped.

As Teacher Dai said, this kind of local war at present reflects the indifference of this world. From time to time, we can see disputes and conflicts in the Middle East and other regions from the news, but those are the talking points for us after dinner. Moreover, the content of the discussion is basically some fake "international relations" to political content.

We don't care about the people who live there, what kind of life they live. We are busy with our own lives and struggles, and as long as what happens tens of thousands of kilometers away, as long as it does not affect our daily life, we are not willing to spend time and energy to understand.

Nadine Labaki, a female director who grew up in Lebanon, used the camera to document the underclass living in the war.

The games that children play from an early age are chased through the streets with homemade gun models, and almost invariably enter the "juvenile detention center" when they are teenagers. And this so-called "juvenile detention center" has not played its role, but has become one of the ways for the families of these teenagers to sell homemade drugs.

There are also people who make money by taking advantage of everyone's desire for a better life, they help foreigners who do not meet the regulations to get visas, they help their own people who want to flee and go out, and even they do business of reselling people. In them you don't see friendship and mutual help between the people at the bottom, only the mercenary and indifferent businessmen.

The parents of the protagonist Zane are also representative. The family lived on a humble penthouse with no stable source of income. The mother takes the children to make their own drugs, the children make their own simple drinks and sell them on the street, Zane works at the grocery store, and the father plans to sell his eldest daughter to the grocery store owner to get a bride price. But even this did not stop them from continuing to have children.

When we hear that our mother is pregnant again, don't say Zane, even off-screen we will all be out of anger.

Although the protagonist of this film is the boy Zane, following his perspective, we can clearly see how difficult it is to be a woman in that environment.

The first is Zane's sister (who may also be a sister, I really can't see who is bigger), who has been targeted by the owner of the grocery store from the beginning. Zane did everything he could to protect her, unwilling to let her marry the man who was much older than her. While she herself was still half-confused about what menarche meant, Zane was already sensitive to the fact that she would be sent to the man if her parents knew about it.

This is followed by Rahill, who took Zane into his home after he ran away from home. Rahir is a migrant worker from Ethiopia, but because the Lebanese government does not allow migrant women to become pregnant, she cannot obtain a legal stay visa. She hid her son in a tool compartment in the bathroom, in a trolley bag, and fed the children on the low income earned by working as a black worker.

Finally, Zane's mother, who marries a man who treats her and her children violently and contributes little to the family's income. She was forced to keep getting pregnant and demanded that her biological daughter follow her old path.
