Liu Bingzhong, a famous minister during the reign of Kublai Khan of the Yuan Dynasty, was born in 1216 and died in 1274 AD, and was a member of the Xingzhou clan.
Liu Bingzhong was originally called Liu Kan (刘侃), the character Zhongqian (仲晦), and the number of The Tibetan Chunshan People. Later, he was accepted as an apprentice by the Zen master of Tianning Temple, and after he began to believe in Buddhism, he changed his name to Zi Cong. The name Liu Bingzhong was only taken after he entered the dynasty as an official.

When Kublai Khan had not yet ascended the throne, Liu Bingzhong, through the promotion of Master Haiyun Zen, went to Beijing to see Kublai Khan, and then because of his talent, he was taken in by Kublai Khan, and since then he has become Kublai Khan's right and left confidants.
He was extremely talented, specializing in the I Ching and Shao's Book of The Classics, and was proficient in astronomy, geography, calendars, and divination. Kublai Khan admired him very much and was willing to consult with Liu Bingzhong when he encountered things. And Liu Bingzhong's personal ability is indeed good, and he always gives Kublai Khan very good suggestions, which makes him more and more important in Kublai Khan. Later, Kublai Khan could be said to be very convinced of himself.

Since liu bingzhong was left by Kublai Khan, he has been advising Kublai Khan and has made great contributions to the unification of China by the ancestors of the Yuan Dynasty. When he died in the eleventh year of the Yuan Dynasty, Kublai Khan was very sad and said to his courtiers: "Bingzhong has been loyal to the emperor for more than thirty years, careful and cautious, not avoiding hardships and dangers, and has no hidden feelings, and his knowledge is so deep that he knows it." Liu Bingzhong's later funeral expenses were all money from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and finally Liu Bingzhong was ordered to be buried in Dadu.
Yuan Shizu also posthumously gave Liu Bingzhong the title of Taifu (太傅), the Duke of Zhao (赵国公), and the posthumous title wenzhen (文贞), and when he was emperor Chengzong, he posthumously gave him the title of Taishi (太師), changed his title to Wenzheng (文正), and posthumously honored him as the King of Changshan when Emperor Renzong was enthroned. A Han courtier like Liu Bingzhong, and then a person who was also ranked as the Third Duke, was only Liu Bingzhong in the Yuan Dynasty. It can be seen that Liu Bingzhong and his people made contributions to the Yuan Dynasty, as well as the praise of the Yuan rulers.
Before Kublai Khan succeeded to the throne, Liu Bingzhong gave advice to Kublai Khan, which played a very important role in the development and construction of the entire Yuan Dynasty. After Kublai Khan succeeded to the throne, many meritorious ministers were able to go further, but only Liu Bingzhong remained with Kublai Khan, still wearing old clothes (the old clothes here actually refer to liu Bingzhong's still monk clothes, Liu Bingzhong wore for a period of time as a monk, and did not change his official clothes).
At first, he made this point and suggested that Kublai Khan reward Liu Bingzhong with the Hanlin scholar Wang E. Wang Eshang played Kublai Khan and said: "Bingzhong has been serving the mansion for a long time, accumulating years, participating in the conspiracy of the drapery, fixing the grand plan of the society, being loyal and diligent, and it is advisable to be praised." "This means that Liu Bingzhong has already participated in the major affairs of the military state as early as when His Majesty has not yet succeeded to the throne, and has followed you for so long, made countless meritorious achievements, and such a loyal person should be rewarded."

Although it was proposed by Wang E, it was actually ordered by Kublai Khan. Therefore, Kublai Khan naturally approved this letter, ordered Liu Bingzhong to return to the customs, worshiped him as the Guanglu Doctor, and served as the Taibao to participate in leading the political affairs of Zhongshu Province. At the same time, he even married the daughter of Dou Mo, a scholar of hanlin academy, and gave him the fengxianfang as a mansion, and the wife of the residence, including the work, was solved.
Liu Bingzhong had a very good title in later generations, called "the designer of the Great Yuan Empire". The designers of a country are indeed very bullish. This title is very appropriate and vivid to illustrate Liu Bingzhong's influence and merits on the Yuan Empire.
First, the name of the Yuan Dynasty was suggested by Liu Bingzhong. He wrote to Kublai Khan to change the name of Mongolia to "Dayuan" in the I Ching, and Kublai Khan adopted this suggestion, so the Mongol Empire was renamed the Yuan Dynasty.
Second, Liu Bingzhong was ordered to preside over the construction of the capital of the Yuan Dynasty and the capital of Shangdu.
Third, Liu Bingzhong established the official position of the Yuan Empire.
Fourth, the courtesy of the emperor, the costumes of the hundred officials, and the courtesy of the emperor.
