At that time, Wang Jinshan's daughter Wang Yuanyuan was also in the army. Because of the needs of the work, Wang Yuanyuan was sent to Jinzhai County in Anhui Province to carry out a mission.

Therefore, Wang Jinshan was happy and decided to go and see his daughter. When father and daughter meet, they are naturally overjoyed. The two talked a lot, and Wang Yuanyuan reported to her father on her recent work and life. Maybe the conversation was too happy, plus there weren't too many concerns between father and daughter.
Therefore, when Wang Yuanyuan mentioned that they led Li Desheng, she blurted out the name of General Li without adding any honorifics or titles.
The daughter's direct call to Li Desheng by his name made Wang Jinshan, who had just been very happy, change his face in an instant. He suddenly became angry with his daughter and said: Li Desheng is what you can call at will?
Why did Wang Jinshan care so much about his daughter's accidental gaffe? In addition to hoping that her daughter knows how to respect her elders and leaders, does Wang Jinshan have other feelings?
To answer this question, we have to talk about the relationship between Wang Jinshan and Li Desheng.

Perhaps it is "no coincidence, no book", Wang Jinshan and Li Desheng's early experiences have many similarities.
In 1915, Wang Jinshan (then known as Wang Wenshan) was born in Huang'an (present-day Hong'an) County, Hubei Province. The following year, Li Desheng was born in a small mountain village in Xinxian County, Henan Province. The two founding lieutenant generals of the future republic and the founding major generals are actually only one year apart in age.
Wang Jinshan's family was miserable, and he had to take on the heavy responsibility of the family at a young age. When he was nine years old, his father asked Wang Jinshan to work as a cattle herder for a large family.
Before leaving, my father still took his hand and kept telling: "When you go to a big family, be diligent, don't be lazy, don't be greedy and sleepy, remember?" Wang Jinshan was very sensible, not only agreed to his father's request, but also assured his mother: "Mom, you can rest assured." I'll bring you red amaranth back to eat. In this way, with the simple wish to bring red amaranth to his mother, Wang Jinshan became a cowherd.
Coincidentally. Li Desheng's family is also very poor. All the family's possessions were a house that could only shelter from the rain and a large camphor tree.
When he was seven years old, his parents wanted Li Desheng to go to a tailor's shop as a primary school apprentice, learn a craft, and support his family in the future.
However, Li Desheng felt that the work of tailoring was too boring and not suitable for his active personality. So he consulted with his parents and hoped to go herding cattle. Although herding cattle is much harder than being a tailor, his parents still obeyed Li Desheng's wishes. In the end, Li Desheng also became a cowherd.
Li Desheng's "work" of herding cattle did not last long, and his hometown ushered in a large number of Red Army, and the Red Army liberated Li Desheng's hometown father and elder.
At the same time, the Red Army's ironclad discipline, high fighting spirit, and noble revolutionary feelings all attracted Li Desheng. Li Desheng decided in his heart: I want to join the Red Army! Soon after, Li Desheng got his wish and became a small Red Army soldier. The year was 1930.
It was also in this year that the tide of revolution poured into Wang Jinshan's hometown. The county seat of Huang'an county is full of revolutionary soldiers wearing five-pointed star hats.
Revolutionary enthusiasm touched many people, including Wang Jinshan. Also in 1930, Wang Jinshan also put on a simple but "heavy" military uniform.
Two "children" who were thousands of miles apart and had never lived in the same year became revolutionary fighters by mistake, and because of their miraculous fate, they were incorporated into the Red Fourth Front.
However, Wang Jinshan worked in the 10th Division for a long time. Li Desheng, on the other hand, entered the 11th Division.
However, a few years later, around 1934, Li Desheng was ordered to be transferred to wang Jinshan's Tenth Division. Since then, Wang Jinshan has been the head of Li Desheng for a long time.
In the successive battles since then, whether it is Wang Jinshan or Li Desheng, they have played very well. Slowly, the original two cattle herders grew into commanders and fighters who could stand alone in our army.
During the Liberation War, the Central China Field Army was established, with the 6th to 9th Columns (and later other units). The sixth column was brought out by Wang Jinshan.
The Sixth Column differed from other units in that it was mostly formed by guerrilla units, and the old Red Army units were few. Therefore, at the beginning of the formation, many people were not optimistic about this column.
But who is Wang Jinshan? At the age of twenty, he became a brave general of the deputy division of the Red Army, and was an excellent general known as "Wang Crazy". His six columns will never be looked down upon by others, and they will never be allowed to be a little worse than other troops.
As a result, Wang Jinshan was particularly strict with this unit, and ordered him to act like a mountain.
In battle, as a commander and fighter, Wang Jinshan often took the lead and stimulated morale. With the commander as an example, the soldiers of the Sixth Column naturally used their lives extraordinarily. In a short period of time, the six columns fought many beautiful battles.
A team with strict military discipline and forbidden orders; a team that can win and fight hard battles can naturally be called a good team. People have also gradually changed their stereotypes of the six columns, and the six columns, which were not optimistic in the past, have been transformed into one of the "three main columns" of our army.
As the saying goes: "One fence three piles, one good man three gangs". The success of the Sixth Column is the result of Wang Jinshan's painstaking efforts and the efforts of all the officers and men of the Sixth Column.
Among them, some people call li Desheng of the six vertical "three musketeers". The so-called six-column "three musketeers" refer to the three brigade commanders under Wang Jinshan: You Taizhong, Xiao Yongyin, and Li Desheng. These people were Wang Jinshan's right and left arms, and with their help, Wang Jinshan's six columns came down like fierce tigers whenever they fought.
For example, the famous Battle of Xiangfan, launched in 1948, was a classic battle fought by the six columns. In this battle, Wang Jinshan trusted Li Desheng to overcome the most difficult task, let him "slash three levels", and finally established Qigong.

After the founding of New China, the tacit cooperation between Wang Jinshan and Li Desheng continued unabated.
For many people, the words "Battle of Shangganling" are not unfamiliar. However, many people may not understand that this battle is a classic battle in the command career of Wang Jinshan's military brigade, and it also bears witness to the mutual trust and comradeship between Wang Jinshan and Li Desheng.
On June 25, 1950, the Korean War broke out suddenly. Immediately after, the United States announced its entry into the war, and united many countries to form a United Nations army and entered the Korean battlefield strongly.
The sudden change in the situation on the Korean Peninsula and the wanton interference of the United States and other imperialist countries are not a small threat to the newly founded new China. In order to defend New China and give play to the international moral spirit, the leaders of the older generation resolutely withstood tremendous pressure and decided to resist US aggression and aid Korea.
With regard to the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, many generals of New China held a positive attitude and hoped to participate in it. Wang Jinshan and Li Desheng are among the representatives. In February 1951, Wang Jinshan entered the Korean War and successively served as deputy commander and acting commander of the Third Corps of the Chinese Volunteer Army.
In March of the same year, Li Desheng also took the initiative to ask for help, leading his troops to participate in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. At that time, Lee Wasok-sang was originally a division commander of the Second Field Army, and after entering Korea, the troops led by Lee Deok-sang were reorganized into a division of the Chinese Volunteer Army, and Lee Deok-sang remained the division commander.
Soon after, Li Desheng was promoted to deputy commander of the Twelfth Army. The Twelfth Army, on the other hand, was subordinate to the Third Corps under the command of Wang Jinshan. In this way, Wang Jinshan and Li Desheng, the "partners" of many years, came together again on the Korean battlefield.
Chinese The People's Volunteer Army was victorious after entering the Korean War, while the situation of the United Nations Army became more and more passive. In addition, the Korean armistice negotiations at that time were difficult to progress because of the prisoner of war issue and the deliberate obstruction of the United States.
As a result, the UN forces tried to launch a counterattack on the battlefield. On the one hand, it is necessary to get rid of its own passive situation, on the other hand, it hopes to gain more weight for the United States at the negotiating table.
Under such a plot, on October 14, 1952, the United Nations army launched the "Jinhua Offensive", which invested huge military forces in the Shangganling area.
At that time, the garrison at Shangganling was Qin Jiwei's 15th Army. Although the 15th Army was fully prepared for this vicious battle, it also caused great damage to the enemy in the course of the war. However, under the frenzied attack of the enemy, the price paid by our army was also very painful.
On October 19, the "Jinhua Offensive" had been underway for five days. Qin Jiwei wrote in his diary that day: "The intensity and cruelty of the battle is a situation that has not been seen in the Korean battlefield for more than a year."
Qin Jiwei's 15th Army was also subordinate to Wang Jinshan's 3rd Corps. The situation encountered by the 15th Army could not but arouse wang Jinshan's attention.
In view of the casualties of the 15th Army, Wang Jinshan wanted the 15th Army to withdraw first and replace it with the 12th Army, where Li Desheng was the deputy commander. But how could Qin Jiwei agree to such a deployment? Therefore, Qin Jiwei put down a bold word to Wang Jinshan: "I will not go down, and I will not go down when I die."
Qin Jiwei's determination not to retreat from death impressed Wang Jinshan. Wang Jinshan finally promised that the 15th Army would not withdraw, but at the same time, Wang Jinshan also put forward another request: "The 15th Army is not down!" However, the 12th Army will also be on the top, and I will assign the 12th Army to your command, how about it? Add some more artillery, and a Katyusha artillery regiment! ”
The 12th Army is also the main force, and handing over the 12th Army to the 15th Army as a "supporting role" is not only an emphasis on Shangganling, but also a trust in Qin Jiwei and the 12th Army.
So, what was the 12th Army doing at the time?
Originally, according to the plan, the 12th Army should be in a state of rest. However, the situation was urgent, and the 12th Army temporarily changed its deployment and dispatched elite forces as a reserve of the 15th Army to prepare for the Shangganling Battlefield. Deputy Commander Li Desheng was asked to go to the corps and accept the task.
On October 26, Li Desheng met with the old leader Wang Jinshan. In the face of this brave subordinate, Wang Jinshan did not go around the bend and said to Li Desheng bluntly: "Our determination is to resolutely defend Shangganling and not give way to any land!" "The battle will be fiercer than ever, and we must prepare for the bloody battle of Stalingrad during the Great Patriotic War of the Soviet Union."
After speaking of predicting the cruelty of the war, Wang Jinshan began to cut to the point and informed the appointment arrangement for Li Desheng. They were preparing to set up a command post on the Five Holy Mountains on the Shangganling front to unify the command of the troops of the 12th Army and the 15th Army fighting on the Shangganling front, and this command post was handed over to Li Desheng for command.
Finally, Wang Jinshan told his old subordinates in a serious tone that this mission was to be completed with the 15th Army. All things should be reported not only to the corps, but also to Qin Jiwei, commander of the 15th Army, hoping that Li Desheng would be able to "do a good job of unity with each other."
Behind the long-winded demands and all-encompassing instructions is Wang Jinshan's expectations for Li Desheng.
Li Desheng can naturally feel the expectations of the old leaders, and as a soldier, Li Desheng also understands the responsibilities that need to be borne on his shoulders at this moment.
Therefore, he firmly expressed his position to Wang Jinshan: "Resolutely carry out the orders of the corps and command the front-line battle."
With the responsibility of the soldiers and the expectations of the leadership, Li Desheng walked to the front-line battlefield without hesitation. Wang Jinshan, as the commander of the corps, was also greatly relieved at this time, saying: "As soon as Li Desheng goes up, I can sleep with confidence."
Facts have proved that Wang Jinshan is not unreasonable to be so relieved about Li Desheng. After entering the battlefield, Li Desheng gave full play to the good work style of the outstanding commanders and fighters of our army, took the lead as a soldier, had courage and strategy, and brilliantly fulfilled the tasks entrusted to him. Not only did the UN Army once again appreciate the strong fighting spirit of the Volunteer Army, but also wrote a wonderful stroke in the history of world war.
Li Desheng's excellent performance in the Battle of Shangganling made Wang Jinshan deeply pleased. After the Battle of Shangganling, some of Li Desheng's words and deeds made Wang Jinshan even more overjoyed.
As mentioned earlier, in the Battle of Shangganling, the 12th Army fought and cooperated with the 15th Army. Because of this strategic deployment, coupled with the media propaganda in the later stages, many people did not understand the achievements of the 12th Army in the fierce Battle of Shangganling for a long time.
As Xiao Yongyin, who was the commander of the 12th Army at the time, later lamented: "The blood of more than 4,500 soldiers in the 12th Army was spilled on Shangganling, and they could never hear the episode 'A big river' in the movie "Shangganling"."
As the frontline commander of the Shangganling Campaign, Li Desheng made arduous efforts and witnessed the tragic moments on the battlefield. In the face of the "contrast" between the sacrifice of the 12th Army on the battlefield and the "obscurity" of the 12th Army under the battlefield, Li Desheng should have been the one with the most say.
However, when Wang Jinshan asked Li Desheng, "Have you fought the battle?" Li Desheng replied without hesitation: "Enjoy! Wang Jinshan asked again, "Is it painful?" Li Desheng replied: "Painful! ”
Li Desheng and Wang Jinshan had the same idea, "Soldiers, what they want is to fight and win wars, and don't worry about anything else!" ”
Li Desheng not only said this, but also did it. When he heard that a staff officer of the 12th Army once complained after listening to the radio, "We also fought Shangganling, and in the end it was all the credit of the Fifteenth Army, and we didn't mention a word of our army," Li Desheng severely criticized this staff officer and solemnly told him: "Your idea is not right, why are you and we all fought by the volunteer army!" ”
Later, in order to put an end to such phenomena, Li Desheng also deliberately gave ideological work to comrades with opinions and changed their thinking.
Finally, Li Desheng even made a stipulation in the 12th Army: No one is allowed to mention the merits of the Shangganling Campaign again, and no one is allowed to argue again. Li Desheng himself set an example by not mentioning on any occasion that he had commanded the Battle of Shangganling.
How could such an old comrade-in-arms with outstanding merit and high spirit not make Wang Jinshan feel happy and trusted?

After returning from the Korean battlefield, Wang Jinshan and Li Desheng's life path had a different trajectory.
In 1964, Wang Jinshan was transferred to work on a farm in Henan for some reason. It was not until 1969, when the Ninth Congress of the Communist Party was convened, that Wang Jinshan entrusted Xu Shiyou, commander of the Nanjing Military Region and founding general of the People's Republic of China, to admit his mistake and intercede with Chairman Mao on his behalf.
With the continuous efforts of Xu Shiyou and others, Wang Jinshan was appointed deputy chief of staff of the Nanjing Military Region.
After Wang Jinshan arrived in Nanjing, Wang Yuanyuan, whom we mentioned at the beginning of this story, also came to her father's side. Wang Jinshan offered that he hoped that his daughter would join the army as a soldier.
For the matter of becoming a soldier, Wang Yuanyuan is also very eager. So she gladly accepted her father's advice. However, what puzzled Wang Yuanyuan was that her father always said that sending her to become a soldier was "going back to her hometown", what did this mean?
Soon after, Wang Yuanyuan understood her father's intentions.
In the summer of 1969, Wang Jinshan personally sent his daughter to Qingjiang City, Jiangsu Province, where the Twelfth Army was stationed. After the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Li Desheng was promoted to commander of the Twelfth Army and held this position for a long time. After knowing this, Wang Yuanyuan finally understood what her father meant by "returning to her hometown".
Wang Jinshan used to revolutionize and work in this contingent. His old subordinates, such as Li Desheng and others, were in this team. For Wang Jinshan, sending his daughter here to become a soldier is, of course, "going back to his hometown".
Unfortunately, the joy of "going back to home" does not last forever.
Due to years of revolutionary work, Wang Jinshan's health was not very good. In 1974, Wang Jinshan suddenly felt unwell. By November, he was vomiting blood in bursts. As a last resort, Wang Jinshan was admitted to the hospital.
After Wang Jinshan fell ill, he received care from many parties. At that time, Li Desheng was no longer the subordinate who followed Wang Jinshan in the past, he was in a high position and shouldered heavy responsibilities. However, after learning about the old chief's physical condition, Li Desheng still personally went to visit the old chief in the midst of his busy schedule. However, due to Wang Jinshan's physical reasons, Li Desheng waited in front of his bed for an hour, but he still could not talk to the old chief as he wished.
After all, life, old age, illness and death are natural laws that cannot be escaped.
In 1978, Wang Jinshan's life came to an end.
At the time of his death, Wang Jinshan probably remembered his life of fighting on horseback, remembering the battlefield that had been missing for a long time, and he asked in a weak tone: "Where did the enemy fight?" Who are we there? ”
Hearing Wang Jinshan's question, his younger son rushed over and said, "It's Uncle Li Desheng there!" ”
Know the Father Mo Ruozi!
Sure enough, after Wang Jinshan heard the answer, he said happily: "When Li Desheng goes up, I can sleep with peace of mind." ”
This scene seems to be back on the Korean battlefield, as if it is back to that period of time. Until the last moment of his life, Li Desheng was still Wang Jinshan's most trusted "subordinate".
On May 10, 1978, Wang Jinshan died in Nanjing at the age of 63.
After Wang Jinshan's death, the relevant leaders attached great importance to it. In the end, it was decided that Wang Jinshan would be granted the post of adviser to the Nanjing Military Region, and the funeral would be treated as the leader of the Grand Military Region. This is also a posthumous mourning.
As a former comrade-in-arms and an old subordinate, Li Desheng has never forgotten Wang Jinshan.
Many years after Wang Jinshan's death, Li Desheng also wrote a long article recounting the merits of Wang Jinshan's life and pinning his condolences on the old chief. At the end of the article, Li Desheng commented with such sincere feelings: "Comrade Wang Jinshan, a loyal communist fighter who has been tested for a long time and an outstanding general of our army, has made many military achievements for the people. His exploits will forever be recorded in the glorious annals of the People's Republic, and the people will always remember him. Comrade Kinyama is immortal! ”
