The thirteenth day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar is the anniversary of the death of a generation of senior monks, Master Yuanying.
Master Yuanying has been a generation of masters in Chinese Buddhist circles for nearly a hundred years. Master Zong said that he was both proficient, that he attached equal importance to both The Sages and the Wise, that he practiced both Zen and purity, that he was able to understand the harmony of his deeds, that he had loved the country and religion all his life, that he had always practiced the aspiration of serving the country and the world, and was a model for the Buddhist circles to be admired by the people.

The Dharma Teachers and Students are all about their lives
Master Yuan Ying (1878-1953) was a native of Gutian County, Fujian Province. Young reading poetry books, brilliant. At the age of eighteen, he became a monk at Yongquan Temple in Fuzhou and received full ordination from Master Miaolian.
At the age of twenty-one, he visited with his heart and feet. He successively practiced meditation from the famous Zen masters of Zen Buddhism at that time, studied the sutras extensively, visited the knowledge of goodness in many ways, and listened to the sutras from tongzhi, zhenxuan, zuyin, huiming, and Daoist masters. Because of his joy and understanding, he studied hard and was particularly proficient in the Lengyan Jing.

Integrate with the Pope
Master Yuan Ying integrated with the Pope and had a profound understanding and practice of both zen and purification. He repeatedly stressed that the two zen purification schools are as they are said, only because the root mechanism of sentient beings is not equal, so they are special; therefore, although Zen purity has two names, in fact, there is no difference in the same reason, and there can be no right or wrong.
In Terms of Buddhist thought, the master took the Lengyan Sutra as the core, advocating that all sects be equal, that there is no view of the portal, and that sex is compatible.
The master summed up the general purpose of the Dharma and outlined it as follows: "Buddhism takes one heart as the sect, enlightenment as the key, compassion as the foundation, and convenience as the door." ”
The master successively conducted ten main Zen forests, led the masses to study and cultivate, and went everywhere he went to clean up the rules and regulations, and the sea was peaceful; he also founded and presided over a number of colleges to cultivate talents for the propagation of the Dharma and promote the development of the Buddhist cause.

Master Yuanying not only studied the teachings, cultivated talents, and cared for all sentient beings, but also loved the country and religion, and was a practitioner of the spirit of compassion and fearless bodhisattva.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Master Yuanying initiated the establishment of the Buddhist Association of China's Monks Rescue Group in disaster-stricken areas, personally serving as the head of the group, carrying forward the three spirits of "great fearlessness", "great selflessness" and "great compassion" of Buddhist salvation, going deep into the front line to save lives and help the injured in the rain of bullets and bullets.

The Master is silent
On the eve of liberation, catholics and disciples in Hong Kong, Singapore and other places prayed for the master to spend the rest of his life in Nanyang, and the master refused with the words "I am a Chinese, born in China, died in China, and will never go to him."
In May 1953, the master was elected as the first president of the Buddhist Association of China, and in August of the same year he died at the Tiantong Temple in Ningbo. Before the master passed away, he instructed his disciples: "Develop bodhichitta, strictly keep the pure vows, carry out the teachings of the Sect, and enjoy the heavens." After a pause, he said, "For the sake of the Dharma, for the sake of human beings, for the sake of bodhichitta, for loving the country and religion, and loving peace." ”
This is not only the Master's earnest teachings to the younger generations of scholars, but also a portrayal of his lifelong promotion of the Fa and selfless benefit of the people.
