Alas, when interviewing St. Martin, the examiner kept asking me about my understanding of commercial jewelry, and I... I'm an inspirational artist kid who doesn't know much about business.
Sure enough, St. Martin rejected me.
However, after that, I felt that Shen Huangyi had a drama. St. Martin thought I wasn't commercial enough, so I was definitely artistic.
Then, the imperial art exemption offer came, hee-hee~

When I was in high school, I wanted to be exposed to a more open teaching environment, so I went to the Ontario College of Art and Design as an undergraduate. When we were studying as an undergraduate, the teachers were very nice and always encouraged us.
I think it's very helpful for me to form my design style, allowing me to always stick to my favorite direction and do what I want to do. However, our school is more emphasis on craftsmanship, so I want to continue to study in graduate school and get in touch with a different teaching atmosphere.

In fact, I didn't know much about the colleges and universities before, and then I knew that Huangyi only recruited graduate students, and I felt, "It's really special", hahaha. Then I went to the official website to see their student works, and after reading it, I couldn't move the Road, it was it.
Huangyi is the kind of contemporary jewelry made by artists, and the material, form, and style of jewelry are not limited, as long as your design makes sense, you can do anything.
I feel that I am very suitable for this free creative atmosphere, can fully show my design style, no one cares about me haha.
I like the depressive tone
Moreover, I think that the tutors of Huangyi have rich creative experience and have their own views on art. Therefore, I am also looking forward to going to Huangyi to meet a mentor who can guide me professionally and ideologically, so that my understanding of art will be deeper and more mature.

I myself care a lot about people's stories, including people's psychology, behavior, and so on. It just so happens that I think that the form of jewelry, which interacts with people in itself, is the most appropriate way to express the human body. That's why I chose this major in the first place.
My design is also basically to narrate stories related to people, and I usually like to read suspense mystery novels to discover things related to human nature.
For example, I have a project inspired by author Yi Yi's novel "The Goth Broken Palm Incident". Insert an Amway, all go to see B Yi's novel, he is a genius!
Get to the point. The novel presumably describes the protagonist's curiosity about life, to dissect the corpse of any living being. I want to show the beauty or decay of the corpse in the book.
It's this project, it's this novel!
Because in general, the corpse is horrible and cruel, but when you create it in the form of beauty, it does not have these good and evil. I wanted to observe people's reactions to the "corpses" I designed by designing displays, and to make people think about death from another perspective.
Also, I think the form of jewelry design is very free, it does not have to be worn on the body to be called jewelry. What you hold, or just interact with the human body, belongs to the category of jewelry.
Another project like my portfolio is to make a ceramic ball, which is not in wearable form, but it interacts with people.
This project is mainly by treating the surface of the material, putting it into this ceramic ball, and guiding people to touch the material. But I will make cheap things very delicate and smooth, while silver things are very rough, so that people make wrong value judgments to inspire people to think about life.

In short, no matter what form of jewelry design, jewelry is only a means and a medium, I think it is still necessary to design for better expression, not for design.

I feel that during the study of the portfolio, my biggest gain was the combing of the preliminary research and thinking logic.
This is important for creating a portfolio because it needs to be shown to others, and the complete logical process helps the examiner to understand our creation.
For example, my following project on sexual assault is to create a series of illustrations in the early stage to show the harm caused by sexual assault to the victim, and the final presentation is also derived from this picture.

Moreover, in the process of creation, the preliminary research has the opportunity to contact many new things, not only to understand some of the things that are happening, but also to deepen the depth of thought, add some things to the project, and enrich their creation. When you go to the examiner in the interview, you will also be more organized and confident.
But well...
I think art itself is very emotional, if there is no such logical thing in the creation, then my creation will not be different? I want to wait until I go to Huangyi to try it hahaha~
