In the spring of 1973, Feng Hongzhi, the son of Feng Yuxiang, received an invitation from Huang Zhen, director of the Chinese Liaison Office.
After receiving this invitation, Feng Hongzhi was very excited in his heart, and the next morning, he wore a neat Zhongshan suit early and came to the office of Huangzhen.
Huang Zhen was also waiting for Feng Hongzhi's arrival in the office early in the morning, as soon as Feng Hongzhi entered the door, Huang Zhen immediately stepped forward, held Feng Hongzhi's hand tightly, and said excitedly: "Mr. Feng, I sent people everywhere to inquire about your whereabouts, this time it can be regarded as finding you!"
When Feng Hongzhi heard these words, he also said with bitterness: "I have been waiting for you, and I am so bitter!" ”
Huang Zhen then said: "You are the first Chinese expatriate I have met since I arrived here and have not become An American citizen. After so many years, it is not easy, you are really like your father, you have a hard bone! ”
Feng Hongzhi replied in a loud voice:
"I am a descendant of Yan Huang, and at any time, any place can not give us Chinese shame." Chinese there is no need to bow down in front of foreigners and raise their heads, and now that our country has become stronger, we overseas Chinese must also stand up. ”
Subsequently, Huang Zhen asked Feng Hongzhi if he had any ideas or requests, he could put them forward, and the Chinese side would try its best to satisfy him.
After pondering for a moment, Feng Hongzhi replied very seriously: "Hongzhi has nothing else to ask for now, the only thing he wants is to get a Chinese passport in the future." After hearing Feng Hongzhi's sincere words, Huang Zhen immediately nodded his head and agreed: "Okay, this matter will definitely be done." ”
So, as the son of the patriotic celebrity Feng Yuxiang, what things has Feng Hongzhi experienced? Why has he been wandering abroad for so many years?
The story begins in 1917.

Feng Hongzhi, the second son of the patriotic general Feng Yuxiang, was born in Beijing in 1917, and when he was six years old, his mother Liu Dezhen left him.
Father Feng Yuxiang has been very strict with Feng Hongzhi since he was a child, and in life, he has never let his children enjoy any luxury treatment. Under the guidance of his father, Feng Hongzhi experienced that life was not easy.
Before his mother died, Feng Hongzhi was arranged by his father to sleep in a grass hut and let him go to herd sheep during the day. However, because Feng Hongzhi was still young at that time, once he did not take good care of the sheep and let the sheep run away.
Feng Hongzhi hurriedly ran to chase the sheep, who knew that he was tripped by a small stone on the way, and he fell to the ground and fainted.
When Feng Hongzhi woke up, he saw his mother silently shedding tears. This was the thing that Feng Hongzhi remembered most clearly when he was a child.
When Feng Yuxiang worked in the Nanjing government, he also brought the family to his side. Feng Yuxiang, who is highly powerful, is extremely simple in life, and rarely sees big fish and meat on the dining table at home, usually mixed grains such as brown rice noodles and nest heads.
Although Feng Hongzhi found it difficult to swallow, he also knew his father's good intentions, because Feng Yuxiang had been chanting this sentence in the ears of his children: "Children, don't give up these things are not delicious, and now there are many ordinary people who can't even eat these things, so I hope that when you grow up, you will be a Chinese who can support himself and have the ability." ”
For his father's teachings, Feng Hongzhi has always remembered them.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="393" > threw himself into the patriotic movement after returning from studying abroad</h1>
In 1929, Feng Hongzhi embarked on the road to study abroad. At first, Feng Hongzhi studied with his second sister in the Soviet Union, and then transferred to the Technical University of Berlin in Germany to study mechanical engineering.
In 1941, due to the severance of sino-German relations, Feng Hongzhi returned to China and worked as a mechanical engineer at the China Industrial Company of the famous patriot Hu Ziang, and achieved very good results in his work.
At the same time, Feng Yuxiang will often bring his outstanding second son to participate in various activities. In April 1942, Feng Yuxiang took Feng Hongzhi to Chiang Kai-shek's official residence as a guest, because Feng Yuxiang and Chiang Kai-shek were brothers, so the relationship between the two families was still very close at that time.

During his study in Germany, Feng Hongzhi studied with Chiang Kai-shek's son Jiang Weiguo and others, and when they rested on holidays, several people would meet together to play ball, swim or go on outings, and accompany each other through the period of study abroad.
After arriving at Chiang Kai-shek's official residence, Feng Hongzhi affectionately called Chiang Kai-shek "Uncle Shi", and after greeting each other, Feng Hongzhi said "congratulations" to Chiang Kai-shek.
Chiang Kai-shek was still very confused and asked Feng Hongzhi, "Where does this joy come from?" ”
Feng Hongzhi explained to his uncle Chiang Kai-shek: "Isn't it a big thing to congratulate when the planes of the American aircraft carriers bombed Tokyo in Japan after listening to the broadcast this morning? ”
Chiang Kai-shek, who suddenly realized this, quickly responded with a smile: "The nephew is right, this is indeed a major event worthy of gratifying and congratulatory." ”

Chiang Kai-shek admired his brother Feng Yuxiang's second son in his heart and planned to leave him by his side to do things, so Chiang Kai-shek sent An invitation to Feng Hongzhi to go to the government office. But Feng Hongzhi did not agree, and politely declined Chiang Kai-shek's invitation.
The main reason why Feng Hongzhi refused was because of his father, Feng Yuxiang.
During the period when Feng Hongzhi had just returned to China, he had been following his father Feng Yuxiang to actively participate in various donations to save the country. His father, Feng Yuxiang, worked tirelessly, and in order to do his best to make a contribution to the defense of his family and the country, he ran through more than 20 counties throughout China in more than a year.
Feng Hongzhi has also been following his father everywhere, so what his father did at that time was seen by him. Feng Yuxiang traveled from place to place, and everywhere he went, he had to give an inspiring speech there.
During this period, they also kept calling on the masses of the people to unite in this War of Resistance Against Japan and not to stay out of the matter. Because this is a big thing related to the time of national peril, people everywhere can "have money to pay, make a strong contribution, and jointly save the country."
Feng Hongzhi looked at these efforts made by his father for the motherland and felt that his father was deeply inspiring the people with his own high patriotic enthusiasm. So Feng Hongzhi was also like his father, wearing a simple cloth dress, stepping on cloth shoes at his feet, standing straight in front of the crowd, waving his fists, shaking his arms and shouting, "Recover the lost land, return my rivers and mountains!" ”
The masses listened to this impassioned cry, patriotism and national sentiment were aroused, and they did their best to contribute to the country. Finally, Feng Yuxiang and Feng Hongzhi father and son received about 23,000 yuan in these donation mobilization meetings.
This part of the money, distributed by the father and son, was handed over to the Nationalist government, and the other half was used to assist the Eighth Route Army in its anti-Japanese activities, and handed over to Zhou Enlai in Chongqing.
Feng Hongzhi also followed his father into these patriotic movements, and more deeply realized the weight of the two words "motherland", and his heart has always been proud of his identity as a Chinese.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="394" > went to the United States to study, but it was difficult to return home</h1>
When the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was about to usher in victory, if New China wanted to gain a new life, it was necessary to cultivate a large number of construction talents, so in 1945, the 28-year-old Feng Hongzhi was sent to the United States by Hu Ziang to study industrial technology, hoping that after he returned from his studies, he could contribute to the construction of the motherland.
It was precisely with this determination that Feng Hongzhi embarked on the road to the United States, but he did not expect that when he went to the United States, when he wanted to return to the motherland again, he would experience various difficulties.
By October 1949, after studying in the United States for nearly five years, Feng Hongzhi had mastered many advanced skills abroad. At this time, it was the beginning of the founding of New China, and he could not wait to return to the motherland and use his ability to inject strength into the developing new China.
However, Feng Hongzhi's return to China was opposed by the US authorities, and the US ambition to compete for world domination has long been known to passers-by, and they have a hostile attitude towards the nascent regime.
Therefore, when many scientific and technological personnel abroad wanted to return to China, they were strongly opposed by the US authorities.
Feng Hongzhi was not reconciled, he tried everything to return to the land of New China, when he was preparing to fly from Canada and then transfer to the Soviet Union to return to his homeland, but he was detained by the staff when he took off from Canada.
In desperation, Feng Hongzhi could only choose to stay in the United States temporarily, and most of the overseas Chinese who decided to stay in the United States at that time chose to join the United States in order to develop better, but Feng Hongzhi resolutely did not join the United States nationality.
Later, someone also advised Feng Hongzhi, but Feng Hongzhi only shook his head every time he heard such words, and sometimes when he was asked urgently, he would say a sentence out loud:
"I am Chinese, my father is Feng Yuxiang, I can't become a U.S. citizen and become an American."
And Feng Hongzhi's firm idea was naturally suppressed by the US authorities, it is reasonable to say that with the academic qualifications of famous universities in Germany and the United States, and obtained a doctorate degree from the New York Institute of Technology and the University of California Research Institute, Feng Hongzhi is not difficult to find an excellent job in the United States, but he has not been admitted to those large companies.
Feng Hongzhi did not have to think about it to know that the US authorities must be forcing themselves to force him to become a US citizen in this way, but Feng Hongzhi refused to give in, and after many job searches, he finally chose to work as an ordinary turner in a machinery factory.
Although he is just an ordinary lathe worker, Feng Hongzhi still has not forgotten to continue to learn and grow his skills.
He always remembered his father Feng Yuxiang's instructions to him before he left
"The first is to aspire, that is, to have the ambition to be a strong and promising student, not to live for himself, to live for mankind; the second is to study hard, and only when he has the ability can he not seek people, and those who do not have the ability cannot stand in front of people."
Therefore, it is precisely by relying on such words that Feng Hongzhi worked as both a turner and a draftsman at the lowest level, turning the knowledge he learned into practice, and finally learning exquisite technology.
With profound knowledge and excellent ability, Feng Hongzhi gradually won the trust and respect of his peers in the professional field, and in the development of high and new technologies, Feng Hongzhi participated in the design of nuclear power plants and nuclear submarine equipment in the United States.
After decades of hard work, Feng Hongzhi finally became an outstanding expert in the field of high technology, and eventually, he went from an ordinary lathe to a vice president of The World Famous Pump Production Company Walsington.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="398" > returned to his homeland after many years of absence</h1>
In 1973, when Huang Zhen told Feng Hongzhi that he could fulfill his wish and let him get a passport of the People's Republic of China, Feng Hongzhi was very excited, because he could finally return to his homeland after many years of absence.
Subsequently, Huang Zhen also told Feng Hongzhi another piece of good news
"Your sisters, brothers, sisters work in China, life is very good, they all miss you, separated for decades, they all eagerly want to know your news, before I left, your second sister Fova deliberately found me, let me inquire about your whereabouts, now that my task is completed, I hope you can return to China as soon as possible to reunite with them, and I hope that you can do something for our country." 」
This news made Feng Hongzhi, who has not been heard from his brothers and sisters for more than 30 years because of historical isolation, raise his eyebrows. Feng Hongzhi was alone abroad, and only the second sister Feng Fufa, his younger sister Feng Lida, Feng Yingda and younger brother Feng Hongda were still alive.
The old man who had been wandering overseas for many years heard the news at this moment and said excitedly: "I also miss them, I will definitely strive to return to China to see them as soon as possible, and I am very grateful for bringing me the news of my relatives." ”
After returning home, Feng Hongzhi excitedly told his wife Zhao Meiling: "We can finally return to the motherland." ”
With such a feeling, Feng Hongzhi tossed and turned, always thinking in his heart that after returning to China, he must abide by his father's teachings to serve the country and pay his own strength for the economic development and construction of the motherland.
In the autumn of this year, Feng Hongzhi finally returned to his roots, got his own Chinese passport, and followed the tour group to China on the journey back to China.
When the plane flew over the motherland, Feng Hongzhi couldn't help but keep his face tightly attached to the window to watch down, it was his homeland where he had been separated for more than decades, thinking of this, Feng Hongzhi could no longer suppress the nostalgia in his heart, and could not help but cry.
After arriving in Beijing, Feng Hongzhi met his younger brothers and sisters who had been separated for many years. Adhering to the teachings of his father Feng Yuxiang, several of their sons and daughters are using their abilities to make their greatest contributions to the prosperity and strength of the republic, Feng Hongzhi feels very happy, and at the same time he also thinks deeply about what he can do for the motherland.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="401" > contribute to the reunification of the motherland</h1>
In 1982, the relevant departments held an activity in Beijing to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding patriotic general Feng Yuxiang, and this time the event was a big reunion of Feng's family, and Feng Hongzhi also rushed back from the United States to participate.
After attending the meeting, Feng Hongzhi returned to the Beijing Hotel, but before long, he received the news that Comrade Deng Xiaoping was going to meet with several brothers and sisters of the Feng family. Feng Hongzhi was very happy, because Deng Xiaoping and his father had worked together during the Northern Expedition, and now he was the "chief architect" of China's reform and opening up.
In the course of his conversation with Comrade Deng Xiaoping, Feng Hongzhi heard many stories about the deep friendship between his father Feng Yuxiang and the Communists, which is a little-known history, and Feng Hongzhi admired his father even more in his heart.
Subsequently, Feng Hongzhi expressed to Deng Xiaoping his desire to return to China and settle down, the most important thing being that Feng Hongzhi wanted to make a little contribution to the country in his lifetime.
Unexpectedly, Deng Xiaoping shook his head after listening to Feng Hongzhi's thoughts, and he said:
"I think you don't have to rush back, you have been abroad for so many years, people from all walks of life have more contacts, more relations, familiarity with foreign affairs, can play a role that cannot be played at home, and can also do things to promote the reunification of the motherland and the construction of the "four modernizations" abroad.
After listening to Comrade Deng Xiaoping's long-winded explanation, Feng Hongzhi also agreed very much, and he also believed that he had received two important tasks.

That is, he must go all out to contribute to the reunification of the motherland and the construction of the "four modernizations", although he cannot formally settle in China, he can also serve the motherland abroad in his own way.
After returning to the United States, Feng Hongzhi did his best to start preparing for two things, the first of which was to join forces with Song Xilian and others to launch an organization for the purpose of "peaceful reunification and promotion of society." The second important thing was the creation of Taishan Industrial.
For the sake of cross-strait reunification, Feng Hongzhi often wrote letters to Chiang Ching-kuo by virtue of his friendship of studying abroad with Chiang Ching-kuo when he was young. In the letter, Feng Hongzhi expressed his thoughts in a heartfelt manner.

Moreover, he went all out to state to Chiang Ching-kuo that under the current situation, promoting cross-strait reunification and ending the separation of flesh and bones between the two sides of the mainland is the result of the will of the people and conforms to the general trend of historical development. Therefore, he hoped that Chiang Ching-kuo would understand this and immediately resume family visits between the two sides of the taiwan strait.
Later, Feng Hongzhi's sincere intentions and national efforts finally impressed Chiang Ching-kuo, and in late August 1987, shortly after Feng Hongzhi sent a letter, Chiang Ching-kuo came forward to respond. In September, the North American Daily, published in New York, reported the incident with a front-page headline, and Chiang Ching-kuo set up a group of five people to plan for the issue of opening up the mainland to visit relatives.
On September 25, Taipei's "Chief Executive" Yu Guohua announced that it was officially possible to visit relatives on the mainland.
On November 2, Taiwan compatriots were granted permission to visit relatives on the mainland.
With his sincerity, Feng Hongzhi did his best to call for the reunification of the motherland.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="404" > make every effort to build the motherland</h1>
After founding Taishan Industrial Company in the United States, Feng Hongzhi has been committed to communicating Sino-US technical exchanges and organizing the introduction of technology to China.
The reason why the company he founded was named "Taishan Company", Feng Hongzhi also explained that Taishan is the first of the five mountains in China, his father had lived in seclusion on Mount Taishan twice before his death, he liked this mountain the most, so after his death, he also chose to be buried at the foot of Mount Tai, so his father had the title of "General Taishan".
The word "Taishan" is used as the name of the company, which mainly presents the father's wind bone.
Feng Hongzhi, an elderly man who ran back and forth between China and the United States, inspected Shanghai's sewage treatment project in 1988 and found many problems.
Therefore, under his many efforts, China has reached a technology transfer contract for sewage treatment equipment with foreign countries, which solves the problem of China's sewage treatment project and brings convenience to the daily life of the people of Shanghai.
In 1994, under the influence of Feng Hongzhi, the United States and China worked together to build China's first coal pipeline agreement, which is 602 kilometers long, from Lu County, Shanxi Province, through Hebei Province, to Weifang, Shandong, with an investment of nearly $900 million.
After its completion, the pipeline became the largest coal pipeline in the world.
Not only that, Feng Hongzhi also disregarded his advanced age, ran around the country, and studied how to develop an export-oriented economy in more than 20 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions, and how to promote China's technological transformation and technology introduction.
To this end, he racked his brains and tried all kinds of ways to help the provinces solve difficult problems.
At the invitation of Deng Xiaoping, Feng Hongzhi served as an advisor to China's economic, technological and industrial development, and also served as a senior consultant in Shandong, Sichuan, Anhui and other provinces.
Feng Hongzhi witnessed the development of the motherland and also sent out a deep feeling from the heart: "I was engaged in industry and understood the situation in old China, when important industrial products were imported. But now the mainland is not only able to build cars and airplanes, but also has its own artificial satellites and rockets. It's not what it used to be, it's different. ”

As the son of a famous general, Feng Hongzhi has also kept the handwritten family letters written by his father Feng Yuxiang to his children.
In his family letter, Feng Yuxiang has always stressed one thing to his children: "To be civilian, you must not have the appearance of the children of officials and eunuchs, and you must be frugal, that is, you do not use money in vain." ”
Therefore, in Feng Hongzhi's heart, he has always kept in mind his father's teachings, and on many important occasions at home and abroad, he has always been wearing a Zhongshan suit, extremely simple.
In terms of eating, Feng Hongzhi also never enjoys the taste of mountains and treasures, for him as long as he is full, so when he often eats in the hotel, the meal ordered is a simple fried sauce noodles and small steamed buns, and the waiter is also very surprised by this.
Although he has lived abroad for many years, Feng Hongzhi has never forgotten his father's sincere teachings to him, and he has also done his best to pay his own efforts for the reunification and economic construction of the motherland.
