Relying on the establishment of China Railway 14th Bureau Group Co., Ltd., the China Railway 14th Bureau Museum and the Great Shield Museum was completed and opened on April 24, 2020. The construction area of the base is 1,600 square meters, and the exhibition hall area is 1,042 square meters. The facilities are perfect, with a circular screen hall, the main exhibition hall, the naked-eye 3D exhibition hall and other video playback areas, collecting 1040 physical collections such as medals and certificates, calligraphy and paintings, wall charts, meritorious deeds, books, albums and letters, 10 volumes of manuscripts of experts and academicians, 3 inscriptions, and several books and personal belongings of academicians. It highlights the spiritual and ideological connotation of scientists and the value of the times, with rich content and diverse forms. It has successively won the honorary titles of "Shandong Province Science Education Base" and "China Rock Mechanics and Engineering Society Science Education Base".
The museum includes three exhibition halls: "China Railway 14th Bureau Museum", "Big Shield Museum" and "Scientist Spirit Exhibition Hall". The exhibition hall of the spirit of scientists displays the outstanding contributions made by 18 scientists represented by Academician Qian Qihu in the field of underground engineering in China, as well as their major achievements in underwater tunnels, R&D and manufacturing of large shield equipment, the construction of national heavy equipment, industrial development and the leading of the world's cutting-edge technology, as well as their touching deeds of striving for the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with their lifelong energy. Through a large number of historical photos and rich historical objects, the museum reproduces the outstanding contributions made by the Fourth Division of the Railway Corps to the country and the people in the revolutionary period and the period of socialist construction, and shows the glorious process of the 14th Bureau of China Railway in the new historical period, carrying forward the spirit of the Railway Corps, adhering to reform and innovation, forging ahead, bravely climbing the peak, and continuously developing and growing. Through words, pictures, film and television materials, and physical objects, the large shield museum comprehensively displays the long vein, career development, key projects and industry status of the large-diameter shield of China Railway 14th Bureau, and at the same time reflects the technical level of underwater tunnel construction in mainland China and the innovation and development process of large shield equipment manufacturing.
Through in-depth excavation of texts, pictures, film and television materials and exhibition collections, the base shows the stories of the scientists behind the country's heavy weapons, the scientists' selfless dedication, the fighting spirit of bravely climbing the peak, and the support, help and far-reaching influence on the large-diameter shield cause of China Railway 14th Bureau. With the help of sound, light and multimedia technology, the base strives to bring new feelings to visitors through the design of time tunnel, 270-degree surround screen, and large shield real-life concept display, and is a modern museum with unique corporate characteristics and cultural charm.
