Yuan Daoxian Scientist Spirit Education Base is composed of Yuan Daoxian Scientist Spirit Education Base Exhibition Hall, Southwest University Astronomical Geology Museum, Southwest University Geography and Culture Park, Chongqing Jinfoshan Karst Ecosystem National Field Science Observation and Research Station, with a total construction area of about 5,000 square meters. At present, the base has been successfully approved as a national scientist spirit education base.
Yuan Daoxian, an internationally renowned geologist, hydrogeologist, karstist, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, expert with special government allowance of the State Council, is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Geographical Sciences of Southwest University. For more than 40 years, the research on karst environment led by Academician Yuan Daoxian has been working on many major domestic and international topics in the process of solving various problems of engineering geology, hydrogeology, ecological environment and regional development in karst areas, and has formed unique research characteristics. He has made great achievements in the field of theory and application, and put forward a new theory of karst morphological combination and karst dynamics, which not only puts the research of continental karst at the forefront of international academics, but also promotes the global research of karst.
