Establish a germplasm resource bank and strive to solve the degradation of provenance

"Lily germplasm resources are the material basis for the development of lily industry and breeding. Without good germplasm resources, it is impossible to breed good varieties. In order to save the excellent single plant and excellent type of Lanzhou lily, Yasheng Agricultural Research Institute continued to collect and introduce lily germplasm in the main lily producing areas, and collected a total of 237 excellent single plants of Lanzhou lily, and established a test-tube seedling bank of Lanzhou lily on this basis, which was propagated and preserved through plant tissue culture technology, which provided a resource guarantee for solving the problem of lily provenance.
A variety of breeding ways to strengthen the cultivation of new varieties of lily
"Through a variety of breeding methods, new varieties of lilies with high single-head rate, short growth cycle and high nutrient content can be cultivated more quickly." Zhang Xin, head of the lily team of Yasheng Agricultural Research Institute, said that at present, the company has carried out product ratio tests on more than 60 excellent single plants of Lanzhou lily, and completed field planting of more than 500 polyploid materials obtained by induced doubling.
The lily research team also took Lanzhou lily as one of its parents and crossed it with lily with strong growth potential, fast bulb expansion and good taste, in order to overcome the problems of slow weight gain and poor production performance of Lanzhou lily, and explore the cultivation of new varieties of edible and ornamental lily. Continue to optimize the provenance and increase the breeding of detoxified and improved varieties
"At present, there is an extreme shortage of high-quality seed sources in the Lanzhou lily market, and it is urgent to carry out the breeding of detoxified and improved varieties of Lanzhou lily. We plan to carry out the expansion of Lanzhou lily detoxification test-tube seedlings and the breeding of detoxified varieties, and jointly carry out the demonstration of the effect of detoxified provenance production and income increase with farmers who are capable and willing to cooperate in the main production areas of Lanzhou lily, so as to expand the visibility of high-quality provenance to increase production and income, and lay the foundation for detoxified varieties to open the market. At present, Yasheng Agricultural Research Institute has produced more than 300,000 detoxified test-tube seedlings of Lanzhou lily excellent plants, transplanted 200,000 test-tube seedlings in greenhouses, and produced detoxified seed balls have been planted in Beishan Datian, Yuzhong County, with a yield of more than 3,000 catties per mu.
