I painted Song Chaoyan and his "Looking for the Road in a Dream, Falling in the Rain"

Song Chaoyan wrote a few famous sentences in his (Linjiang Immortal: First Encounter in front of the Doucao Steps): "Looking for the road in the dream, flying rain and falling flowers".

The full text was originally as follows:

The first time I saw it before the grass steps, I met upstairs through the needle. Luo skirt fragrant dew jade hairpin style. The beautiful makeup eyebrows are green, and the shy face is pink and red.

The flowing water will be far away with the spring, and the clouds will eventually be with whom. The wine wakes up and hates the brocade for a long time. Looking for the road in the dream, the rain falls in the flowers.

This love poem describes the sorrow in the heart of Yan Jidao, an infatuated man, who once had a relationship with a woman, but then unfortunately lost it. Flying rain and falling flowers, touching the scene, unwilling, hoping to meet again in the dream. So he wrote this poem, which has been passed down through the ages.

The vernacular translation is as follows:

Girl, we met for the first time when you were playing grass fighting with your friends in front of the steps. When you were upstairs playing with your friends, we met again. I remember at that time, I saw your fragrant skirt, stained with dew, the beautiful jade hairpin on your head, swaying in the wind, your eyebrows, dripping with cuidai, your shy pink face, showing delicate red. But now you are like flowing water, and as the spring is gone, you are like a cloud, and you don't know who to run away with. When I woke up, I deeply lamented that there was no one behind the brocade. And let me dream again, looking for your figure, looking forward to our meeting in the rain and falling flowers flying in the sky.

Falling flowers are like sorrow, and the rain is like a stream. At the end of the road, Yan Jidaokushi vaguely saw the figure of a woman he missed. So he wrote this beautiful poem: "Looking for the road in our dreams, the rain is in the flowers." 」

Yan Jidao (1030-1106) was the seventh son of the Northern Song statesman Yan Shu. Wang Guowei once said in (Words in the World): Throughout the ages, doing knowledge and achieving great things can be described in three Song words, which is called the "triple realm". The first "Last night, the west wind withered the green trees, and I went up to the tall building alone, looking at the end of the world. It was written by Yan Shu, the father of Yan Jidao (Butterfly Love Flower). That is to say, to do learning and achieve great things, we must first have the spirit of perseverance, climb high and look far, and pursue goals. Yan Jidao successively served as the supervisor of Xutian Town of Yingchang Mansion, the general judge of the Ganning Army, and the judge of Kaifeng Prefecture. But he had a lonely and arrogant temperament, and his family fell into the middle of the road in his later years. But his style of words is lingering and sad, strong and frustrated. Among the Northern Song Dynasty poets, Yan Shu was called Da Yan, and Yan Jidao was called Xiao Yan. Father and son are equally famous for their poetry.

In 2018, in the midst of the falling rain and flowers, I was inspired to paint an acrylic painting 20 F canvas work "Searching for Dreams and Wrapping the Road, Falling Rain and Falling Flowers." and an acrylic painting on 40 F canvas "Infatuated Flowers, Golden Rain." 」。 In the spring of 2021, there was a bitter drought and a shortage of water, and finally a long drought met the sweet rain, and I added cursive acrylic painting 30F canvas works to participate in the grand event. Praying for heaven, good weather and renewed Vientiane, and Yan Shu's "Butterfly Love Flower" series is also attached, which is a crayon work painted in 2014 and a cursive acrylic painting in 2021 30F canvas work, please enjoy.
