We will continue to take root in the field of public welfare and make our own contributions to China's sustainable development. She is Yan Yangdi, an outstanding graduate of China Women's University, and today, let's listen to her employment story.

Don't forget the original intention, the ideal background color is red

She was born in a family with faith and mission and good thoughts, her father was one of the soldiers of the Hong Kong Garrison in 1997, "Chinese young sons and daughters, responsibility and mission, should revitalize China", this is Yan Yangdi's father passed on to her life motto, "good as flow, grateful", which is taught to her by her mother, who has been a teacher for a long time, since childhood. The family motto is like this, the children are like this, and these two sentences of the parents have also become the background color of the beliefs and ideals in her heart.

During her studies at China Women's University, she excelled in the exchange of women's studies in South Korea with the support of the department, and she said that because female officials from all over the world often come to study at the university, she became more and more dreaming of becoming an excellent woman who can use the world's best ideas and skills to serve the motherland.

After graduating in 2016, she chose to continue her studies in development studies with a view of globalization and to further explore China's social development. During her master's degree, she went to India to conduct field research, and found that local social development is inseparable from the support of international organizations, and saw the power of foreign youth to actively participate in international development work.

The moment she stood in the fields of India, she remembered the history of the development of the motherland, remembered Premier Zhou Enlai's "reading for the rise of China", and finally understood what General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that "the young generation has ideals, skills, and responsibilities, and the country has a future and a nation." She understands that only by advancing with the motherland, walking with the times, and keeping in mind the mission can she sail impartially and have no regrets. So she packed her bags and set off again, looking forward to taking root at the grassroots level and practicing her words with deeds.

With a mission in mind, he went to Henan and took root at the grassroots level of the county

In 2021, Yan Yangdi began to serve in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Demonstration Project on Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development in Inner Villages. As the Project Coordinator (UNV), she is responsible for promoting the development of equal education at the county level and empowering left-behind women in rural areas to participate in community governance.

During the work, in order to have a more comprehensive and comprehensive understanding of the social development of the grassroots county and the needs of stakeholders, every weekend in the past two years, under the leadership of the leaders of the local government departments, she discussed the key points of this year's project work with relevant personnel of various government departments. Borrowers conduct on-site visits to understand key difficulties, and after on-site research, they have discussions with local government leaders to sort out the work plans of different sectors.

She needs to continue to coordinate the project among international organizations, government departments and stakeholders to ensure that all parties reach consensus, implement efficiently, produce results and achieve goals. In order to deepen the current situation of equal education, she visited all schools and research bases in Neixiang County, and sometimes when she returned home from the township, it was already about 10 o'clock, and she still continued to work overtime. After careful research, it is a systematic plan that meets the development needs of the county: young teachers participate in SDG training, youth SDG training week, youth participation in SDG competitions, a series of promotion activities in research bases, and outstanding youth exchange activities to the United Nations in Beijing. In these activities, she is kind, professional, and firm, and she says, "In order to benefit more children in the inner countryside and become outstanding young people with an international vision, this is my expectation." The improvement of the teachers and the growth of the students are also obvious, and the leaders, principals, and parents of the students have given her a high degree of recognition, and hope that she will stay in the local area in the future, because everyone likes her sincerity and passion. In addition, she also actively promoted the participation of rural left-behind women in vocational skills training and community governance, and promoted a wave of women's self-organization in the county by incubating women's self-organization.

In July 2022, when she listened to the live broadcast of the World Youth Forum after the training on sustainable development capacity for young teachers, she was excited when she heard the general secretary say that "young people are encouraged to show their youthful vitality in the practice of participating in and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and young people from all countries should take practical actions to promote the global development initiative and help implement the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development". You, a new generation of intellectual youth, are going down to the grassroots level, answering the call, and striving for the common goals of China and the United Nations!"

More than volunteering,

Sowing ideals for rural children in the central region

In her daily work, Yan Yangdi learned that the educational resources of village primary schools needed to be improved, and after communicating with the local education and sports bureau, she actively signed up and called on young people in the inner countryside to participate in the UNDP's SDG Movers volunteer lecturer training and "She Digital Future" volunteer lecturer training, and went to rural primary schools in towns and villages to provide capacity building for young people and teachers. For every child, she will definitely ask "what is your dream?", many children have no concept at first, but after guiding and communicating with her, after vividly interpreting foreign language stories and digital skills, the children have different dreams, and some of them say: "I hope to be like you, to be a patriotic and understanding of the world, to help more people." Every time this happens, Yan Yangdi's heart is very happy, she understands that this is the hope of the future of the motherland.

Youth dreams build public welfare volunteer mission, ideal to help sustainable development. As a developmental worker, Yan Yangdi is about to embark on a new position - she and the leaders of the China Children's Charity Association jointly launched the "Strong Country Has Me" support project for children in need, and she will continue to take root in the field of public welfare with General Secretary Xi's entrustment, family motto and ideals, and make her own contribution to China's sustainable development.
