Ten thousand trees and golden crystals are hung all over, and thousands of mountains are scattered. In Checun Town, Song County, as far as the eye can see, large patches of golden dogwood flowers are competing to bloom under the "call" of spring.
"The dogwood here is full-grained, brightly coloured and of good quality. Looking at the dogwood flowers blooming all over the mountains, Jing Xianjun, a villager in Checun Town, Song County, said. At present, Checun Town continues to strengthen the brand of "Funiu Dogwood" high-quality Chinese medicinal materials, and the planting area of the town has reached 65,000 mu, driving more than 8,000 farmers in the town to increase their annual income by more than 6,000 yuan.
Dogwood helps farmers increase their income and get rich, which is just a microcosm of Song County's investment in the development and construction of the Chinese herbal medicine industry.
As an important ecological conservation area in the south of Luoyang, Song County is located in the Funiu Mountains of western Henan, the boundary between the warm temperate zone and the northern subtropics, with its rich medicinal resources and unique geographical location, with more than 1,300 kinds of Chinese medicinal materials, known as the "natural medicine storehouse".

Song County adheres to the strategic determination of "calculating big accounts and long-term accounts", and does not slack off, makes precise efforts, and works for a long time. In 2023, the planting area of Chinese medicinal materials in the county will reach 652,000 mu, and the output value will exceed 6 billion yuan. It has more than 200 cooperatives and family farms engaged in the planting, processing and sales of Chinese herbal medicines, applied for more than 90 varieties of "Chinese medicine quasi-brand", and launched more than 110 kinds of Chinese herbal medicine products, which effectively drove the income of 11,000 pharmaceutical farmers. In the Spring Jinghe, in the Central Plains Medicine Valley Science and Technology Innovation Park of the Henan Academy of Sciences, various projects are in full swing. "Chinese herbal medicines all over the world contain different active ingredients due to differences in geographical environments, and we are committed to standardizing and standardizing Chinese herbal medicines to ensure consistency of quality and reliability of efficacy. In the Innovation Center for the Discovery of Active Ingredients in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Professor Ma Bingji and Associate Professor Wang Li of Henan Agricultural University led the team to conduct scientific research here.
Zhongyuan Medicine Valley Science and Technology Innovation Park adheres to the concept of collaborative innovation, scientific and technological agglomeration, three-medical linkage, and three-innovation integration, builds a new ecology of innovation and entrepreneurship of "enterprise questions", "scientists answer questions" and "government support", and effectively gathers biomedical innovation technologies and high-end talents inside and outside the province to serve the development of Songxian County's biomedical industry.

In the first batch, 13 academicians and expert innovation teams have been introduced into the Zhongyuan Medicine Valley Science and Technology Innovation Park, and 7 innovation centers have been built, involving germplasm resources and improved seed breeding of Chinese herbal medicines, quality evaluation of Chinese medicines, stem cells and bioengineering, and health of traditional Chinese medicine. Relying on the abundant resources of Chinese medicinal materials in Funiu Mountain, it brings together innovative resources in the field of traditional Chinese medicine at home and abroad, realizes research and development in universities and scientific research institutes, and cultivates small-scale, pilot-scale and industrial cultivation in the park.
At present, the Zhongyuan Medicine Valley Science and Technology Innovation Park has initially formed a complete innovation ecosystem of "R&D pilot + incubation acceleration + science and technology innovation fund + industrial operation". It has provided 31 "à la carte" scientific and technological services, and successfully transformed 17 innovative achievements, realizing the "two-way rush" of scientific and technological innovation and technical research from top to bottom and bottom up.
The business format around the lake "mountain city" becomes "lake city"

Luhun Lake, known as the "Erhai Lake in the Central Plains", is the fourth largest reservoir in Henan Province with excellent water quality. In the afternoon, tourists taste tea outside the "fish and squid shop" on the shore of Luhun. "Sitting here and looking at the past is like being on the beach!" said Mr. Zheng, from Jiaozuo.
