The Penta RealEstate design team presents the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) firm's new office in the heart of Prague. Located on the 6th and 7th floors of the Masarycka building, the project has a total area of nearly 1,300 square meters and 245 square meters of terraces and green roofs.
In this case, the client moved from a rented co-working space, which was also not ideal for them – poorly soundproofed, dilapidated and inadequate daylight. Therefore, the client's requirement for the new space was to design a bright, open, homely office environment, with a strong emphasis on the planning of meeting spaces. At the heart of the office is a large, open-plan community space with a homely staircase and master kitchen that can be used for informal events and all-hands meetings. Project rooms and private offices on two floors are better suited for uninterrupted work than open spaces, phone booths, and many small nooks and crannies.
The overall color palette is based on BCG's classic dark green. Taking into account the different attributes of the space, the design chose several sets of color schemes and gradients to create each space, which are reflected in the built-in furniture, interior soft furnishings and acoustic elements. As far as the eye can see, wood veneer dominates the space, which is what the client would love to see. Therefore, the design chose profiled glass partitions with wooden surfaces to form a visual unity and add to the space. The staircase with a homely feel is also finished in wood, and the bookcase on one side of the staircase, which extends to two floors, is also made of oak. Another important component of the design was the planning of landscape plants and botanical installations, which were beautifully designed to create a striking visual effect for the reception area and the chef's bar.
In addition, the design team also designed many original graphics for this case. For example, the foil on the glass partition wall is a reference to the form of a mosaic, the wallpaper with Prague's landmarks, etc. BCG has offices around the world, so each office is local. In this Prague office, you'll find chairs from Ton, Master&Master armchairs, Bomma lamps and benches from Lexova & Smetana. The rest of the furniture is supplied by traditional office furniture suppliers. The entire design process of the project was very intense, requiring multiple workshops with the client's staff, multiple rounds of discussion and modification of the color scheme and samples. However, thanks to the client's active involvement during the design and implementation, the result was a great space design that both parties could be proud of.
