Bulgaria abandoned CRRC in favor of a Spanish manufacturer that was twice as expensive as CRRC's.
Bulgaria had chosen this way, expecting that there would be some kind of surprise, but did not expect that the retaliation would come too quickly, and the Spanish manufacturer company could not complete the delivery of the train within 33 months, and finally Bulgaria canceled the project.
Bulgaria has cancelled plans for the high-speed rail shortly after CRRC launched a bid for high-speed trains in Bulgaria last month.
There are two companies bidding for this project in Bulgaria, one is Talgo of Spain with a price of 600 million euros, while the other is a Chinese company Sifang with a price of 330 million euros.
Faced with the mainland's quotation nearly half lower, the EU launched an investigation, saying that the mainland would quote such a low price because of subsidies.
In the end, Bulgaria chose the Spanish company, while the Continental Sifang company withdrew from the bid, because the Spanish company was twice as expensive, so they could not deliver the train within the time set by the Bulgarian government.
