The table chain proposed in this paper enhances the reasoning ability of large language models: the tabular structure is used to express the intermediate thinking based on tabular reasoning. It instructs the large language model to dynamically plan a chain of operations based on the input tables and associated questions. This changed table design brings new insights to prompting large language models to understand tables.
