Sophie Brocart, Steering Director of the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers, confronts Chinese fashion for the first time

It's been five years since Sophie Brocart last visited Shanghai. In the span of five years, combined with the impact of the pandemic, it is conceivable that the city and the local fashion industry it has nurtured have changed dramatically. Five years later, in March, during the 2024 Fall/Winter Shanghai Fashion Week, she was invited by Labelhood to participate in Shanghai Fashion Week for the first time.

Perhaps never before have Chinese designers been so densely present in the same space at the same time.

On March 30th, Labelhood House, a new space of Labelhood, was officially unveiled with the concept of "House of Designers". There are more than 20 groups of iconic works by young Chinese designers on display in the space, but almost all of the Chinese designers in Shanghai have arrived. So much so that in this building, you can clearly outline the development of local fashion just by the faces of the designers you see.

This space, in the afternoon, undoubtedly became a real "designer's house".

Sophie Brocart, Steering Director of the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers, was also present on the day. Chinese designers have spoken to her, introducing their brands or asking for advice. In the face of these eager faces, Brocart finally has a first-hand feel for the booming power of Chinese fashion.
