Japanese media reported on the 11th local time that according to the latest statistics released by Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan, the earthquake in the Noto area has killed 213 people, injured 567 people, and 52 people are missing. At a cabinet meeting held on January 11, the Japanese government decided to define the Noto Peninsula earthquake as an "extremely serious disaster" and announced that it would promote reconstruction and increase the rate of national subsidies for road and farmland restoration projects.

On January 11, a reporter from the Global Times obtained a set of post-earthquake satellite images of Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, from Changguang Satellite, the first commercial remote sensing satellite company in China, to vividly explain the "extremely serious disaster". Satellite imagery shows that the earthquake has caused severe damage to local buildings, muddy rivers, and some areas of the sea have turned to land.

This set of satellite images was taken by the Jilin-1 Gaofen 03D16 satellite on January 5, 2024, combined with the satellite images obtained by the Jilin-1 wide-format 01A satellite in 2023, showing that after the earthquake, the coastal buildings of Wajima City were affected by the earthquake and secondary disasters, and the houses, bridges and roads collapsed seriously, and the burned part of the center of Wajima was burned with an area of about 0.048 square kilometers. The sediment at the bottom of the river may become turbid due to earthquakes and soil liquefaction.

Some areas of the sea were turned into land after the earthquake. The latest observations released by the Institute of Land and Geography under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan on the 9th local time show that after the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that occurred on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, the crust of the Noto area has changed significantly. Among them, Wajima City has the largest change, moving horizontally to the southwest by about 2 meters and uplifting by about 1.3 meters. Zhuzhou City, another hard-hit area, moved 94.6 centimeters to the southwest and uplifted nearly 90 centimeters, while Anasui Town moved 93.5 centimeters to the northwest and uplifted about 3 centimeters.
