The project covers an area of 85 acres, with a total investment of nearly 1 billion yuan, providing one-stop solutions for the rigid needs of people's livelihood vegetable baskets. After completion, it will integrate the research and development highland of prefabricated vegetables, a fully intelligent plant factory, a prefabricated food intelligent manufacturing cluster, a "three-industry integration" cultural tourism Internet celebrity check-in place, and a "famous enterprise hundred gardens" South China Flavor Valley theme park, etc., with an annual output value of more than 2 billion yuan after reaching production.

At the scene, the Nanhai District promoted the "Millions of Projects" prefabricated vegetable industry investment promotion conference held simultaneously, and 17 prefabricated vegetable industry chain investment and scientific research cooperation projects were signed and settled, with a total investment of nearly 200 million yuan. Including the whole vegetarian (food) building, central kitchen, international trade of prefabricated dishes, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Entrepreneurship and Innovation Research Institute, zero pesticide residue research institute, pig by-product processing, zero added meat sausage processing, oat food processing, circulation, e-commerce sales, etc.

Industry data shows that in 2022, the size of China's prefabricated vegetable market will be 419.6 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 21.3%, and the output value will increase by 120 billion yuan. As one of the provinces with the highest level of openness and the most dynamic economy in China, Guangdong Province's prefabricated food industry is also at the forefront of the country. In 2022, the output value of prefabricated vegetables in Guangdong will reach 54.5 billion yuan, accounting for about 13% of the country's total, a year-on-year increase of 31.3%, leading the country.

In Guangdong Province, Foshan is the highland of prefabricated food industry, and Nanhai is the "master" of Foshan's prefabricated food. In February this year, the Nanhai District Prefabricated Vegetable Industrial Park across the four towns of Jiujiang, Xiqiao, Danzao and Shishan was awarded the plaque of "Guangdong Modern Agricultural Industrial Park", including the four major prefabricated food projects such as the Zhongwei Food Industrial Park project, which is the first prefabricated vegetable industrial park in the province to be implanted in the whole prefabricated food industry chain and started construction in a concentrated manner, marking that the development of the prefabricated food industry in Nanhai District has entered a new stage of comprehensive acceleration. Up to now, there are nearly 1,500 enterprises in the whole industrial chain of prefabricated vegetables in Nanhai District, with an annual output value of more than 20 billion yuan, and it is on the list of "Top 100 Prefabricated Vegetable Industry Bases in 2023", ranking fifth in the country and first in Guangdong. The total investment of the four key projects of the prefabricated vegetable industrial park is 3.1 billion yuan, with a land area of more than 336 acres, and the comprehensive output value is expected to reach 5 billion yuan.

Behind the "good results" is the "thick foundation" of agricultural resources.

The Southern Finance and Economics all-media reporter combed and found that the rapid momentum of the prefabricated food industry in Nanhai District is inseparable from the guarantee of several key elements.

First, there is the land element. Although Nanhai District, as a strong industrial area, has been constrained by land fragmentation and high development intensity for a long time, after being approved as a provincial-level pilot for comprehensive land consolidation in January 2022, Nanhai District has actively made good use of policy dividends and given priority to ensuring the land demand of enterprises, with more than 22,000 mu of intensive agricultural land, focusing on the supply of 409 mu of construction land for newly attracted prefabricated vegetable projects, and effectively improving the industrial spatial layout. At present, Nanhai District has introduced agricultural industry platforms such as Guangdong Agricultural Reclamation National Modern Agricultural Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurship Demonstration Base and Guangdong Agricultural Leading Enterprise Headquarters Economic Base to improve the investment promotion effect of the prefabricated vegetable industry chain through "platform investment".

Seizing the opportunity, Nanhai District set up a special class for investment promotion of the prefabricated vegetable industry in August this year, strengthened the normalization of key industrial chain services, and promoted the prefabricated vegetable industry chain to supplement, strengthen and extend the chain. In October, the work plan for the special class for investment promotion was issued to further refine the investment objectives, special team and working mechanism, and promote the implementation of the investment promotion work of prefabricated dishes.

The high quality of the signed projects will also drive the prefabricated food industry in the South China Sea from quantity to quality.

For example, Foshan Aoweisi International Food Supply Chain Co., Ltd., jointly established by Shenzhen Zhongwei Food Group Co., Ltd., (Hong Kong) Siwei Holding Group Co., Ltd. and (Hong Kong) Banana Leaf Group Co., Ltd., will integrate the main forces of global production, research and development, education, procurement, agriculture, sales, trade, distribution and other sectors to build a powerful international prefabricated food center in the Greater Bay Area and maximize the domestic and international markets.

For another example, the Nanhai District Agriculture and Rural Bureau, Foshan Huanan Weigu Holdings Co., Ltd., and the working team of Academician Wu Qi of the Chinese Academy of Sciences signed a tripartite cooperation project for the whole vegetarian (food) building, which will empower the Nanhai prefabricated food industry to improve with science and technology.

At the event, Wu Qi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the Food and Processing Center of Shenzhen University, also carried out the promotion of scientific research projects on potatoes, rice, whole bean tofu and vegetarian meat with the theme of "securing China's rice bowl and food processing". He focused on the national food security strategy, explained the application prospect of fresh potato reconstituted rice, the technical advantages of the industrialization of the whole bean tofu project, and the main processing technology of soybean protein into "vegetarian meat", adding "new weight" to food security with food research projects and technologies.
