Many elderly people are very thrifty and don't want to waste food, and they are reluctant to throw away the food that has been in the refrigerator for a long time, thinking that the refrigerator is the "safe" of food. But their "reluctance" can easily lead to "big problems".
A 60-year-old couple blanched the bean skin that had been refrigerated in the refrigerator for more than half a year and ate it, but they did not expect to have diarrhea and vomiting on the same day. The couple thought they had eaten a bad stomach and didn't take it seriously. It wasn't until their daughter found out that the tofu skin had been opened and expired for more than half a year that she took them to the hospital. On the day of hospitalization, her father suffered from hypotensive shock and was urgently transferred to the hospital in the early morning. Doctors diagnosed the couple with acute gastroenteritis due to food poisoning.
The three types of food should not be kept in the refrigerator for a long time
Staple foods
Such as rice, wheat, sorghum, peanuts, corn, pastries, etc.
Nuts
Such as walnuts, pistachios, cashews, almonds, peanuts, melon seeds, etc.
River fresh, seafood
Such as fish, shrimp, crab, snail, mussel, clam, etc.
Staple foods and nuts are susceptible to mould and can develop aflatoxins when stored in the refrigerator for a long time. This is a highly toxic substance, which can lead to acute poisoning when consumed in one excessive amount, and can cause cancer if ingested for a long time. After storing river fresh and seafood for too long, a large amount of soluble protein will be lost, and harmful substances such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide will also be produced, and poisoning may occur after human consumption. River fresh and seafood foods are easy to breed listeria monocytogenes, which can cause diarrhea, fever, poisoning, blood and brain tissue infections and other serious consequences after ingestion.
