Changjiang students go deep into community schools, and she integrates artificial intelligence and early childhood education in practice

"I want to really make something that is helpful for education in remote areas and can be applied in practice." On August 24, Huang Xinran, a 2023 graduate of the School of Marxism of Central China Normal University, majoring in ideological and political education, was reviewing the card board game he made.

From a start-up who didn't know anything at the beginning, to a science and technology expert who led his team to achieve many honors and reached cooperation with many enterprises, Huang Xinran has always adhered to the original intention of education at the undergraduate level, focused on public welfare undertakings, and promoted artificial intelligence education into backward and remote areas. Recently, in the 9th "Changjiang Students" College Student Employment and Entrepreneurship Character Selection, Huang Xinran was selected as a self-improvement and endeavor figure.

In her field research, she integrated AI education with early childhood education

The product created by Huang Xinran and his team members is a card board game based on programming knowledge. In Huang Xinran's view, learning computer knowledge is the general trend under the scientific and technological revolution, and this kind of education should be popularized from early childhood. However, most of the current promotion of children's programming knowledge on the market is based on the APP of intelligent electronic devices, which makes it difficult for children in remote areas to contact these things. How can you make it healthy, fun and simple for kids to learn to code? In order to solve this problem, Huang Xinran and the team embarked on the road of entrepreneurship.

After the launch of the project, the product remained in the internal trial phase for a long time and did not really hit the market. After gradually opening up, Huang Xinran made up his mind that he must visit and investigate more. During a lecture in July, Huang was temporarily notified of a power outage in the community, which could only be delivered orally. When the temperature was in her thirties, she handed out card games to her students and sweated at the overcrowded activity center. To Huang's pleasant surprise, the children were very cooperative, and a large group of students raised their hands after each question; In the hands-on session, everyone had a lot of fun. "It was the first time I really felt that the product we made was meaningful, and it made fun for kids to learn about programming." Huang Xinran said with emotion that in just one month, she went into 52 communities and taught more than 70 sessions.

Chen Yewen, one of the project leaders, said that before and after the lecture, they will distribute questionnaires on logical thinking tests, according to the results comparison, students' logical thinking ability has improved significantly, in addition, some students have become interested in programming because of their promotion, and even took the initiative to express to the team that they want to have a deeper understanding of programming knowledge and participate in related competitions. In the face of such children, Huang Xinran and the team did a good job of nurturing and specialized in competition coaching. "Before this, I didn't know programming was such a fun thing!" Chen Tianyun, a student in Hongshan District, said.

From the initial difficult strategy board game to the combination of "Three Kingdoms + Monopoly" suitable for young children, the product has been continuously improved after repeated practice. In the end, Huang Xinran led the team to reach cooperation intentions with 4 companies, won more than ten provincial awards such as "Gold Award of the 8th 'Internet +' College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hubei Provincial Competition" and "Provincial Gold Award of the 12th Challenge Cup College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition", and was shortlisted for the finals of the Global Future Education Design Competition sponsored by Beijing Normal University and the UNESCO Institute for Information Technology in Education, and the project was selected into the project library of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technology in Education for Teachers.

Keen on public welfare activities, she pays attention to students' mental health in remote areas

"Looking back on the road I came from, knowledge changed my destiny and allowed me to move from the countryside to a broader world, so I also hope that I can stick to my original intention in the future." During his university years, Huang Xinran has been committed to public welfare and organized 52 public welfare activities to contribute his own strength to the cause of education.

In the summer of 2022, she took the opportunity of volunteer teaching to come to Xishui County in Huanggang City to carry out a 15-day volunteer teaching. Xiao Yao, a member of the teaching team, recalled that Huang Xinran has always educated children with a positive attitude and attended every class in the best condition. She said that in addition to ordinary primary school content, Huang Xinran also actively carries out quality education. She will use her usual courses to promote programming cards so that mountain students can also understand programming knowledge. In Xiao Yao's view, the card teaching aids made by Huang Xinran are very suitable for children in mountainous areas: "This board game is relatively easy to get started, and it is also very interesting, even children with certain intellectual disabilities can understand it." ”

She organized a teaching team to carry out a series of "mental health" courses, visited students' homes to talk about their hearts, and contacted the local women's federation and village committee to report the corresponding situation and actively seek solutions. "At the stage of primary education, we should establish children's three views well to ensure their mental health." Huang said gladly.

Devoted to education, she embarked on the path of teaching

Huang Xinran said that in order to better understand the content of the course, she often goes to the teacher after class to ask some questions that are very basic in the eyes of her classmates. Persistence is the unified evaluation of Huang Xinran by teachers. After long-term efforts, Huang Xinran's results are among the best.

In addition, Huang Xinran also joined the school's debate team. Here, Huang Xinran has made many excellent friends and made a qualitative leap in his expression ability. More importantly, she learned a lot of knowledge that she could not cover in professional courses. While preparing the debate on "meme" culture, she delved into the deeper meaning of these Internet buzzwords for the first time, and also explored the multifaceted pros and cons of such culture. The debate taught her to look at social issues with a dialectical eye and to think more clearly about the meaning of the words mentioned many times in this professional class. "Teachers are the job of teaching and educating people, and if I can't look at problems dialectically and comprehensively, it will be difficult to teach every student well." Huang said joining the debate team was one of the most correct decisions she had ever made in college.

"She made an overall plan for her college career in her freshman year and did it step by step." Speaking of Huang Xinran, counselor Wang Hailong did not hide his appreciation, "Her diligence is recognized by the grade. Wang Hailong recalled that when preparing for the National Normal Student Micro-class Competition, Huang Xinran often asked questions and corrections from teachers of various subjects, stayed up late until the early hours of the morning, and also used the information technology knowledge he learned in the innovation and entrepreneurship competition to make the micro-course videos richer and more diversified. In the end, they won the special prize of the National Normal Student Micro-course Competition.

This summer, Huang Xinran graduated from Central China Normal University and became a political teacher at Ruian Middle School in Zhejiang Province. Huang Xinran said that he will continue to devote himself to education and shine.
