The love between Deng Xiaoping and Zhuo Lin is different, neither the romance of Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao, nor the deep martyrdom of Xiao Juying's love for Chen Yi.
On the contrary, Deng Xiaoping and Zhuo Lin came together through "blind dates" and only met a few times before they got married. However, this did not prevent them from falling in love, nor from becoming companions, comrades and comrades-in-arms who accompanied them for a lifetime.
However, Deng Xiaoping was able to get to know Zhuo Lin because of the wedding of another couple.
In the summer of 1939, Deng Xiaoping returned to Yan'an from the Taihang Front to attend an enlarged politburo meeting, when he was the political commissar of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army. In Yan'an, Deng Xiaoping happened to coincide with the wedding of his comrades-in-arms Chen Min and Ouyang Yi.
Because of this wedding, the comrades in Yan'an were concerned about Deng Xiaoping's marriage. Comrades all thought that the thirty-five-year-old Deng Xiaoping should have a new family.
Deng Fa, who lived in a cave with Deng Xiaoping, began to help Deng Xiaoping find a suitable lover. At that time, the Ministry of Public Security of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Government was the department with the largest number of female party members. As long as it was in his free time, Deng Fa had to take Deng Xiaoping to the Ministry of Public Security.
Deng Xiaoping did not like to talk, and because he had been married twice, he did not pay attention to the matter of falling in love again. He only went to the Ministry of Public Security with Deng Fa a few times, and then he did not go anymore. Deng Fa did not give up, and said to Deng Xiaoping, you don't go, well, I will find it for you!
Deng Xiaoping had no choice but to continue to accompany Deng Fa to the Ministry of Public Security. Just a few days later, Deng Xiaoping met Pu Qiongying, who was only twenty-three years old. Pu Qiongying was the zhuo lin after that.
Pu Qiongying was born on April 6, 1916 in Yunnan. Her father was pu Zaiting, a famous local ham king, and his family was quite well-off, and the family lived in a large mansion in Pujiashan Village, Rongcheng Town, Xuanwei City, Yunnan Province.
Pu Qiongying's earliest contact with the revolution was because his father Pu Zaiting had followed Sun Yat-sen's revolution, but Sun Yat-sen's revolution ended in failure, and Pu Zaiting was discouraged, feeling that the revolution had no hope, so he abandoned politics and business.
He bought a batch of tinplate to make canned goods. At that time, almost no one in China had heard of the name Pu Zaiting, but the geographical advantages of Yunnan allowed the Pujia family to open up channels for sales to overseas markets.
The name of "Pujia Ham King" has resounded throughout Southeast Asian countries. Pu Qiongying's family also moved away from a remote mountain village with strong economic strength and bought a property in Kunming, China's third largest city at that time.
At that time, Pu Qiongying was ten years old and began to receive a modern education in the Western style, exposed to new ideas from Europe. It was the new style of education and new ideas that made Pu Qiongying choose to go to Yan'an after eleven years, and only then did she have the "Zhuo Lin".
Sometimes, fate makes one person another, makes two unrelated events connected, or even makes one thing another.
Pu Qiongying has a lively personality and is a good sports player, especially good at 50 meters and 100 meters sprints. In 1931, when she was in the first grade of junior high school, Pu Qiongying was selected to participate in the Sports Conference held in Beijing.
At that time, due to domestic political realities, it was necessary to have a passport to go from Yunnan to Beijing, and it was necessary to return to the north from abroad. After obtaining her passport, She and her classmates followed the tour leader from Yunnan into Vietnam and then took a boat to Hong Kong.
When they arrived in Hong Kong, news came that the Japanese army had occupied the three northeastern provinces. When they arrived in Shanghai, they were told that the Games in Beijing had been cancelled. The team leader also had to return to Yunnan with the team members.
However, Pu Qiongying did not go back. She stayed in Shanghai and then went to Beijing alone.
In the late autumn of 1931, at the age of fifteen, Pu Qiongying was admitted to beijing girls' first middle school. At the age of nineteen, she was admitted to the physics department of Peking University. She also became the first person in Yunnan Province to be admitted to Peking University. A few years later, her two older sisters were admitted to universities in Beijing.
It was at Peking University that Pu Qiongying came into contact with the most advanced ideas in China at that time, as well as the most active first revolutionaries. It was at Peking University that Pu Qiongying joined the anti-Japanese national liberation vanguard. At this time, the life of Miss "Pujia" has become farther and farther away from her.
When Pu Qiongying was twenty-one years old, the Lugou Bridge Incident broke out. The situation in Beijing was turbulent, and she and her two sisters fled to Tianjin, and then went to Xi'an via Qingdao. Subsequently, Pu Qiongying and thirty other revolutionaries arrived in Yan'an after seven days of walking.
This is the revolutionary holy land that Pu Qiongying dreamed of. Here, she truly became a Communist Party member, became "Zhuo Lin", and what awaited her in Yan'an was not only revolution and experience, but also love.
Before Deng Fa "volunteered" to take Deng Xiaoping to the Ministry of Public Security, Zhuo Lin already knew Deng Xiaoping and had heard his speeches. But she had no idea she would intersect with Deng Xiaoping's life. On the one hand, she was only twenty-one—later, she herself said, she didn't want to get married at all—and Deng Xiaoping was already thirty-three; on the other hand, Deng Xiaoping was a political commissar and she was just an ordinary party member.
Deng Xiaoping, however, found her. Deng Xiaoping was usually silent, and he didn't know what to say in the face of a girl who was twelve years younger than himself. He proposed to make a relationship twice, but both were rejected by Zhuo Lin.
At the third meeting, Deng Xiaoping did not mention the exchange, but told Zhuo Lin about his experience. In Deng Xiaoping's narration, Zhuo Lin saw a staunch proletarian fighter who dared to pursue the truth. She was impressed. When Deng Xiaoping finished speaking, he left.
A few days later, he went to the Ministry of Public Security again, found Zhuo Lin, and told her that he intended to marry her. Deng Xiaoping said that his shortcoming was that he was twelve years older than Zhuo Lin, but other aspects hoped that Zhuo Lin would be satisfied.
This time, Zhuo Lin did not hesitate any longer and agreed. However, she made a condition. She told Deng Xiaoping that it was okay to get married, but she had to leave Yan'an after marriage, and she was worried that others would laugh at the "bit of soil" of Deng Xiaoping, who she married. At this time, there was still the shadow of Pu Qiongying in Zhuo Lin's body, but she was sincere. Deng Xiaoping laughed and said, yes.
In this way, the couple, who had a rather "strange" acquaintance experience, were married in August 1939.
Deng Xiaoping fulfilled his promise to Zhuo Lin. On September 1, he took Zhuo Lin back to Wang Jiayu on the Taihang front. So they had a small home of their own in the years of war.
In Wangjiayu, Zhuo Lin met Peng Dehuai for the first time. Peng Dehuai has a cheerful personality, and he can say whatever he wants in his heart, and after he saw Zhuo Lin, who has a lively personality, he said to Deng Xiaoping, how do you find a wife and sister like the same! This sentence made Zhuo Lin laugh.
Indeed, Deng Xiaoping and Zhuo Lin are somewhat similar.
Leaving Yan'an, Zhuo Lin, who was twenty-three, made new demands on Deng Xiaoping.
Zhuo Lin said that she liked to be lively and liked to talk, deng xiaoping was quiet and did not like to talk, so it was not okay, she asked Deng Xiaoping to talk to herself more.
Deng Xiaoping still accepted this interesting "request" with a smile.
Zhuo Lin was not satisfied, saying that if she was the only one who spoke and the other person did not speak, such a day would not go on.
Deng Xiaoping said that he was such a person. If Zhuo Lin likes to talk, he will listen, and if he does not approve of it, he will bring it up, and if there is no opinion, the matter will be in the past.
Zhuo Lin was a little disappointed, but she no longer demanded it.
Soon after, Deng Xiaoping was ready to rush to the front.
Before leaving, Zhuo Lin said to him, you are on the front line, I can't see you again, you have to write to me every month.
Deng Xiaoping asked her what she wrote.
Just write about what you do every day, Zolling said.
Deng Xiaoping said yes. He said he would ask his secretary to print out a separate itinerary and send her a copy every month.
After Zhuo Lin listened, she was silent, and finally said that if this was the case, there would be no need to write a letter.
A few months later, Deng Returned to Wangjiayu from the front to reunite with Zhuo Lin. During this time, Zhuo Lin did not receive a single letter.
She said to Deng Xiaoping, let you write a letter, you don't write, but we still have to live together, then understand each other.
It is undeniable that the personalities of Deng Xiaoping and Zhuo Lin are very different.
But the common ideals of the revolutionary cause bind them together and sustain them through the rest of their lives.
Later, when Deng Xiaoping's ashes were scattered into the sea, Zhuo Lin recalled that the old cadres — her name was Deng Xiaoping Old Cadres — would not say that the parents were short, and you couldn't let him say. It was Deng Xiaoping who changed Zhuo Lin. She settled down and stopped making "demands" of Deng Xiaoping.
It was during this time that Zhuo Lin read "On the Cultivation of Communist Party Members" written by Liu Shaoqi. She felt that every word in the book was spoken to herself, and that she had every flaw she wrote about in the book. This book became an important part of "Zhuo Lin"'s growth path.
In a letter, Zorin said that in her heart "there are still petty-bourgeois ideas" in her heart.
But she was sincere. She went on to write that she had thought about living a life of leisure, and that she would be free to live when someone else had managed the country. However, life in Yan'an made Zhuo Lin understand that there was never "others", only herself and everyone.
She also truly understood Deng Xiaoping.
Why does he keep quiet talking at home and talk endlessly in his speech?
Why doesn't he like to talk about parents short, but spend a whole day writing battle summaries?
Twenty-three-year-old Zhuo Lin gradually realized that "revolution" and "Chinese Communist Party" are not two boring words, they are flesh and blood. And coming to Yan'an does not mean that he is engaged in revolution. The revolution is even more ideologically conscious. Zhuo Lin was no longer less or more, she became calm. She also thought about her marriage for a long time, believing that with the passage of time, she and Deng Xiaoping would become more and more harmonious. And it's true.
In the years that followed, Zhuo Lin, the elite of Peking University's physics department, always accompanied Deng Xiaoping, whether in Yan'an, or in Wang Jiayu, whether in the jungle, or in the grasslands and snow, Zhuo Lin no longer had a moment's doubt about Deng Xiaoping and the Chinese Communist Party.
This "Pujia" big lady also finally integrated into the life of Yan'an and the front line of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression - when she first arrived in Yan'an, she did not like to eat millet and spent money to eat in small restaurants. Now that she is Zhuo Lin, she is going to be with all the party members, and she no longer feels that Deng Xiaoping is "a bit earthy".
When she and Deng Xiaoping returned to Yan'an again and lived in the small cave dwellings in Yan'an, she knew that the former Pu Qiongying was no longer there, and that she was a Member of the Chinese Communist Party named "Zhuo Lin".
Deng Xiaoping also changed himself because of Zhuo Lin's appearance. He has always been serious, even rigid, and even General Chen Xilian, who has served as commander of the Beijing Military Region and the commander of the Shenyang Military Region, will let him score three points. When he saw deng xiaoping helping Zhuo Lin wash her hair, he was very surprised, and he couldn't help but say that Deng Xiaoping also had a gentle time!
It was such a Deng Xiaoping, and his wife Zhuo Lin and a classmate started spinning threads. Soon, Zhuo Lin began to knit sweaters for the comrades in Yan'an. It was something she would never have thought of twenty years ago.
However, after all, in the era of war, the relatively calm days were soon broken by the iron riding sound of the Japanese army. Beginning in 1941, the Japanese Army began to encircle and suppress the Chinese Communist Party in the Taihang Shang area. It was also at this time that Zhuo Lin gave birth to her and Deng Xiaoping's first child.
The troops were to be relocated, and Zhuo Lin did not have enough milk to feed the children due to insufficient nutrition. On the seventh day after her daughter was born, Zhuo Lin sent her to licheng county in Shanxi province in an ordinary peasant's home. This daughter is Dunlin.
Three years later, Zhuo Lin gave birth to a son, Deng Pufang, who was also fostered a few days later in the homes of ordinary people in Matian Village, LiaoXian County.
Although they are far away from the smoke and war, the lives of the two children are still very difficult. Zhuo Lin later recalled that after she and Deng Xiaoping took the two children back to her side, she boiled eggs for the children one day. However, the two children looked at the eggs and did not know what to do. Zhuo Lin was anxious and told the children to eat quickly. It was then that she suddenly understood that her children had never seen an egg before.
Zhuo Lin peeled the egg shell and fed it to the children.
In the autumn of 1945, the smoke of World War II had dissipated, but the smoke of civil war had resumed.
In October of that year, Zhuo Lin gave birth to her third child, Deng Nan. She also fostered the daughter in the homes of the people. Like her brother and sister, Deng Nan also grew up drinking millet porridge.
On April 27, 1949, Deng Xiaoping's troops were stationed in Nanjing after the liberation of Nanjing. Afterwards, head to Zhengzhou and liberate Shanghai. At this time, Zhuo Lin had already taken all three children back to her side. They lived in a courtyard in Shanghai. The family was finally reunited.
In October, Deng Xiaoping prepared to leave for the west. Zhuo Lin once again made "demands" to Deng Xiaoping. She said that every time the troops moved, Deng Xiaoping left her and her children aside, but now that the war was over, she and her children would follow wherever Deng Went. This was Zorin's last request.
Deng Xiaoping agreed. In the nearly three decades that followed, Deng kept his promise and never left Zhuo Lin or his children behind.
Deng Xiaoping and Zhuo Lin lived in the west for three years. In 1952, Deng Xiaoping returned to Beijing and entered the central government, serving as vice premier of the State Council and minister of finance.
At this time, he made a request to Zhuo Lin. He asked Zhuo Lin not to show her face again, to work outside, and simply to make him a secretary. Zhuo Lin agreed.
In 1966, Deng Xiaoping was treated unfairly. Deng's mother saw couples from other families exposing and informing each other, worried about her son's fate. One day, she found Zhuo Lin and said to her: You and Deng Xiaoping have gone through so many years, you must understand...
Zhuo Lin only said, Mom, I know him.
A year later, Deng Xiaoping was affected. His children were scattered all over the place.
Deng Xiaoping kept his promise to Zhuo Lin, and this time Zhuo Lin returned the promise to himself.
She accompanied Deng Xiaoping and supported herself together.
In winter, Zhuo Lin, who was "laboring", saw a line of geese flying through the sky. Her gaze followed the geese south. The geese flew away, the sunlight stung her eyes, and Zhuo Lin felt a sharp pain in her eyes.
By the time of his third comeback, Deng Xiaoping was over seventy years old. The country was in ruins, and there was not much time left for Deng Xiaoping. For more than a decade, Deng Xiaoping dedicated all his life to the motherland.
Zhuo Lin was always by his side, taking care of his life and serving as his secretary. At home, Zhuo Lin is the big sister of the people, and abroad, Zhuo Lin has shown the unique charm and boldness of Chinese women.
Deng Xiaoping died on February 19, 1997, at the age of 93.
On March 2, 81-year-old Zhuo Lin read Mr. Deng's name over and over again and threw his ashes into the sea.
On July 29, 2009, Zhuo Lin passed away at the age of 93.
Deng Xiaoping and Zhuo Lin walked together for fifty-eight spring, summer, autumn and winter. Although they have different personalities, they are very sincere and frank, and have common ideals and aspirations that have supported them throughout their lives.
They are happy.
In the yard where they lived, two pine trees grew. The two trees resemble dragons, with roots intertwined underground and branches in the air. People call it the "Double Dragon Tree".
