Snipers, which give most of us the feeling, seem to be mysterious and extraordinary, and the quality of individual combat is very high. Is this really the case? The answer is yes.

Apart from the user, even the best weapon is a pile of scrap iron, so the sniper selected by thousands is of course the best in the army.

From its birth to the present, snipers have played a very important role in special forces and special operations in countries around the world. Personnel must not only undergo layers of selection and long-term special training, but also master combat skills including precision shooting, latent camouflage, reconnaissance and counter-reconnaissance, which usually play a decisive role in special operations operations.

Especially in those war-torn times, a group of excellent ace snipers emerged from all armies of various countries, who made the enemy feel frightened like ghosts on the battlefield.

At that time, the enemy was so scared that it was said that when going to the big toilet, he had to use a box to throw out the tunnel, and he did not dare to show his head at all, and the professional sniper who was also killed by Zhang Taofang was also killed.

And today we want to talk about the protagonist Simon Haye, in the Soviet-Finnish War that broke out in 1939, he also created a shocking sniper record with a Mosin Nagant rifle, and became the king of snipers in the world in one fell swoop. The Soviet troops facing him at that time had reached the point where as soon as he appeared, the army was distracted and the mentality was broken.

Simon Haye was born on December 17, 1905, in a small Finnish town called Rautjarvi, the son of a hunter who made a living as a hunter. So at a very young age, Simon Haye followed his father around the forest, and his father also taught him the skills of hunting at a young age, practicing his good marksmanship. Fast forward to the time, at the age of 20, Simon Haye joined the Finnish army.

In the army, Simon Haye stayed for more than ten years, if there is no accident, I believe that he, like most people, eventually retired from the army to end his military career, and then lived his life as a little man, a life of obscurity.

But who would have thought that the Soviet-Finnish War that broke out in 1939 put Simon Haye on the battlefield and made him a legendary life.

In March 1938, Germany assembled and annexed Austria, which gave the Soviet Union a premonition of crisis, because it meant that the passage south to the Mediterranean sea was blocked. In order to stabilize Germany, in August 1939, the Soviet Union and Germany signed the Soviet-German Non-Aggression Pact, which contained a secret clause that the two countries divided their respective spheres of influence among the Eastern European countries, in which Finland was divided into the Soviet Union.

However, the close cooperation between Finland and Germany made the Soviet Union even more uneasy, because they saw that Germany could invade the Soviet Union at any time through Finland as a springboard. On the pretext of protecting Leningrad, Finland was asked to lease the Hanko Peninsula to the Soviet Union to establish a military base for fortification. However, the Hanko Peninsula was also a natural barrier for Finland to defend the Soviet Union, and this unjustified request was naturally rejected by Finland.

So the Soviet Union created the "Manilla Incident", which used this as an excuse to mobilize 23 divisions with a total of 450,000 troops to launch a surprise attack on Finland, which had a population of just over 4 million, and the Soviet-Finnish War broke out.

Soviet-Finnish War

Despite the outnumbered enemies and the disparity in strength, the tenacity of the Finnish army was praised by the world afterwards. Simon Haye was with his comrades, paddling a sleigh and wearing a white cloak through the dense forests of the mountains, constantly wandering to resist the Soviet army.

In order to fight against the Soviets, Simon Haye and his teammates often formed sniper squads in groups of three or five to carry out sneak attacks. Such sniper squads were common in the Finnish army at that time, because only then did they have a chance of winning. It was such a combat group that inflicted heavy losses on the Soviets.

A group of Soviet troops roasting fire in the snow, at this moment did not perceive the danger coming, suddenly, do not know where the bullet killed a soldier, they panicked to find the enemy, but the people around them fell one by one, the white snow, soon full of corpses. From then on, they knew that a mysterious sniper had appeared around them, and this person was Simon Haye.

Simon Haye was always like a ghost, the Soviets had no idea when he would appear, when the Soviets were eating, sleeping, resting, simply taking two steps or showing their heads, the distant Simon Hayes only needed to gently pull the trigger, they immediately lost their lives, and then he immediately changed places, blended with the snow again, and he could even complete a long-distance sniper at a distance of 700 meters.

With the passage of time, the presence of Simon Haye has attracted the attention of the Soviet army, not only because Simon Haye is constantly killing the Soviet army, but also from the mouth of the surviving Soviet army, they have developed a deep fear of Simon Haye in their hearts, and a sense of awe pervades.

In order to get rid of Simon Haye, the Soviets could say that they used everything they could think of, sending out sniper squads to hunt, sending out military dogs to search, and even when their teammates were sniped, they used aircraft cannons to carpet bomb the surrounding forest snow, hoping to make Simon Haye disappear by this method, but Simon Haye survived, and no one knew where he was hiding.

Over time, Simon Haye's name of "White Death" spread among the Soviet army. Some Soviet troops, because they are timid, do not dare to show their heads, and there will be holes in their butts. Later, the Soviet army that roasted the fire found that the comrades who suddenly fell to the ground also looked numbly and indifferent, because he knew that he could not live until dawn, and it was better to face it calmly than to suffer painfully.

One day in 1940, Simon Haye was shot through the jaw by a Dam bullet in the jaw during a close combat with the Soviets and hit him in the left side of the head, and when his comrades found him, they saw his tragic condition and thought that he could not survive, but he miraculously survived again.

Simon Haye after the injury

The Soviet-Finnish War, which lasted less than 4 months from beginning to end, although the Soviet Union finally relied on numerical superiority to win, but it paid a heavy price of more than 370,000 casualties, compared with Finland's more than 100,000 casualties, it was obviously invincible.

And Simon Haye, in just over 100 days from the time he entered the war to being wounded, Simon Haye created an astonishing record of killing 705 people alone, which no one has surpassed so far.

After the end of the Soviet-Finnish War, Simon Haye once became a "national hero" in the minds of the Finnish people, and in order to reward Simon Haye, the military department directly promoted himself from first class to second lieutenant, which was the first time in Finnish history.

Simon Haye died in 2002 at the age of 96. Perhaps many people will say that killing so many people, there is nothing worth showing off. On this issue, a media reporter once asked him bluntly, will he feel guilty?

Listening to the reporter's question, Simon Haye replied only with this sentence: "I just did what I should do as a Finnish soldier." ”
