In 1942, shifo town was a large market town, where a small group of Japanese troops and a part of the Jing'an Army in north China, totaling more than 300 people, established a stronghold and erected barbed wire, and built artillery towers on all four sides. The Japanese puppet army often harassed the villages everywhere to bully men and women, and the nearby people dared to be angry and dare not speak out.
In order to build a stronghold, the Japanese army demolished more than 300 civilian houses, and the military and political officers of the Ninth Sub-district of the Jizhong Military Region decided to attack this stronghold, and Zhang Xuesi, the younger brother of Zhang Xueliang, who had just arrived in Hebei, a graduate of the Yan'an Marxist-Leninist College, and the chief of staff of the headquarters of the Jizhong Military Region, specifically participated in the command.
On April 4 of that year, the fourth company of the 18th Regiment of Jizhong destroyed a platoon of the puppet army that captured Zhuangding, and in addition to killing the enemy, they also captured a Japanese puppet army. After interrogation, it was learned that the enemy troops stationed in the stronghold were equipped and the distribution of firepower. On the morning of the 6th, the regimental headquarters held a meeting of cadres at and above the company level, and everyone studied the combat plan and deployed combat tasks.
At nine o'clock in the evening, the companies entered the position, the first battalion, the county brigade, and the district squad were responsible for intercepting the reinforcements of Boye and Anguo on the periphery, and one company of the second battalion was attacking in the south, one company in the east, and one company pretending to attack in the west.
After the battle began, the Japanese puppet army desperately defended the deep wall of the ditch, and the three attacks of the company were not very smooth. In this case, the regimental headquarters decided to change tactics and decided to confuse the enemy with deception. When the troops retreated, they deliberately shouted and smoked cigarettes and flashlights to expose the target, and the enemy was indeed successful, and many people thought that the Eighth Route Army had retreated, leaving only the sentries, and the others went back to sleep.
At two o'clock in the morning, the six trumpeters of the Eighth Route Army blew the charge horn together, and the light and heavy machine guns fired together to block the gate and the hole of the watchtower, and the grenade was thrown on the roof. Under the cover of fire, the warriors broke through the fortifications and seized the watchtower, and within an hour, the battle was over. Nearly 300 Japanese puppet troops were killed and captured in this battle, more than 150 rifles and more than 50 pistols of various kinds were captured.
Later, Cheng Zihua recalled in the article that this wartime Jizhong Military Region had a beautiful battle to conquer the stronghold. Zhang Xuesi, who had just arrived in Hebei, commanded calmly in this battle and was able to adapt to changes at random, reflecting excellent tactical qualities. After the war, the operational staff of the headquarters praised him as "a handsome young man, brave and resourceful, and his future is unlimited."
Zhang Xuesi, who came out of the Marshal's Mansion, was infinitely loyal to the revolutionary cause in the years of blood and fire, and he was awarded the rank of major general in 1955 and later became a member of the admiral. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he persisted in fighting in Hebei for a long time and made meritorious contributions to the sacred cause of the war of resistance of the whole nation.
