Dalian fell in love with hiking at first sight
In 2002, the heads of several units at that time, including the Dalian Municipal Sports Bureau, Dalian Evening News Agency, and Northeast International Travel Service, went to Japan to investigate and participated in the Japanese hiking conference. The visionary they decided to introduce hiking into Dalian, so there was the first "Dalian Evening News JAL Cup" 2003 National Hiking and Mountaineering Conference and the First Dalian International Hiking Conference held on September 27 and 28, 2003.
Note that the name of the first session is "Hiking and Mountaineering", so on the first day of the first conference, more than 8,000 hikers hiked collectively on the Binhai Road, and the 20-kilometer and 30-kilometer routes on the day all started from Xinghai Square, passing through Fujiazhuang, Tiger Beach, Stone Trough, Bangzao Island, and Botanical Garden, and ended in Zhongshan Square. The next day, 5,000 hikers moved to the Great Black Mountain of Golden State, starting from the Avantgarde Sports School, and began a 20-kilometer hike and a 5-kilometer mountaineering competition.

Since then, hiking has heated up rapidly in Dalian, and the two-day route has also been changed to the first day of Binhai Road and the second day of Xueyuan Road.
On May 22, 2004, after hiking the coastal road, Mr. Doni, vice president of the International Hiking Union, praised dalian's hiking routes, saying that it was surrounded by mountains and seas, beautiful scenery, changeable terrain, rich in ups and downs, and was very suitable for hiking.
At the 2005 Hiking Conference, the International Walking Alliance sent three Dutch officials to conduct a comprehensive assessment and observation of the Dalian International Hiking Conference. Mr. Dick, Director general of the Board of Directors of the International Walking Alliance, said that "it was perfect, and I was amazed by the enthusiasm of the people of Dalian". This year, 200,000 hiking enthusiasts participated, setting a record for the largest number of participants and the most popular in the history of hiking in the world. The congress was preceded by a signing ceremony for the trekking alliance formed by The three cities of Dalian in China, Kurume in Japan, and Seogwipo in South Korea.
In April 2006, Mr. Domont, an observer of the Dutch International Walking Union, together with more than 200,000 Dalian people, participated in the 10-kilometer hike of the Fourth International Walking Congress, asserting that "Dalian will definitely be able to join the International Hiking City".
At 3:16 p.m. US time on April 28, 2006, thunderous applause came from the Hilton Hotel in Vancouver, Washington, USA. The President of the International Walking Union loudly announced:
Voted by the General Assembly of the International Walking Alliance, Dalian unanimously became a full member of the International Walking Alliance!
This shows that Dalian has joined the International Walking Alliance family as the only Chinese mainland.

Dalian people donate money while walking
After joining the Big Family of the International Hiking Alliance, Dalian has become a must-visit stop for international hiking enthusiasts, and more and more foreigners are hiking the Binhai Road with Dalian people. On May 26 and 27, 2007, representatives of the Japanese Kurume City, the Korean Zhenxing Association, the Vladivostok Trekking Association of Russia, the Danish Trekking Association, the Dutch delegation, as well as foreign friends from more than 10 member states of the International Hiking Alliance, hiking enthusiasts from Yingkou, Shenyang, Anshan and other places and 200,000 Dalian citizens hiked together, and the red, yellow and white trekking army traveled six or seven kilometers, including more than 650 trekking teams.
The 2008 Dalian International Walking Conference became heavy because of the "5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake", but it was full of love. More than 200,000 Chinese and foreign hikers donated love while hiking, and raised nearly 160,000 yuan in two days, all of which were donated to the disaster areas in Sichuan.

From 2009 to 2015, the Dalian International Walking Congress was held smoothly and has maintained a grand situation of 200,000-300,000 people per session. At the 10th Dalian International Hiking Conference in 2012, the old hikers who participated in the 10th Hiking Conference received commemorative medals. This year, the walking conference set up the first branch of Golden Pebble Beach.
The hiking conference has become an excellent carrier for brand release and corporate promotion, and it is also a stage for urban civilization. As Mr. Rick, former chairman and observer of the International Walking Alliance, commented, "I didn't expect Dalian to be so beautiful, and the hiking team was so spectacular, it was the most in the world!" ”
In the past 14 years, more than 2.5 million people have participated in the walking festival! This figure has created the highest number of single-day hikers and the total number of hikers in the history of international hiking.
On May 20 and 21 this year, dalian international walking conference will usher in the 15th birthday, the conference will also change the main venue for the first time, hikers will start from the Donggang business district light and music fountain square, along the binhai road, enjoy different scenery. At the same time, the number of sub-venues increased to 5.

15 years ago, I remember that autumn, on the stairs of the Great Black Mountain, an old man surnamed Pan was climbing the mountain while holding up a cardboard that said "Hiking is health".
Inadvertently, this sentence of the old man became the definition of the walking convention.
Although at that time, Dalian people were first exposed to the sport of hiking, the name of the first hiking conference was initially "hiking and mountaineering" in front. However, the people's choice is the best answer: in Dalian, there has never been a sport as deeply rooted in the hearts of the people; there has never been an activity, such as a hiking conference.
In the past 15 years, we have recorded the Dalian International Hiking Conference from childhood to growth in writing; in 15 years, we have fixed the smiling faces of 2.5 million hiking enthusiasts with our lenses. Paragraph after paragraph, photo after photo, witnessing the passage of time.
Because of the existence of the hiking conference, we have left so many happy memories. The most common expression in memory is happiness, laughter, pleasure, friendliness, kindness, and health!
