Blue-headed diving duck: Is a bird of the genus Dipter in the family Phyllopodidae. The body is round, the head is large, and the male has a black head and neck, with a green luster and white eyes. Females have pure brown body feathers. Rarely chirps, is a deep-water bird, and is good at diving with its wings folded. Omnivorous, feeding mainly on aquatic plants and fish, shrimp and shellfish. During the breeding season, male ducks assist females in choosing nesting sites, planing shallow pits in the ground or gathering a pile of reeds to build a nest. Males and females are involved in the rearing of chicks. Overwinters along the coast or in larger lakes.
