In the early hours of May 11, Shirren Abu Aklay (51), a prominent Palestinian journalist for Al Jazeera, died shortly after reporting on an Israeli attack on the West Bank town of Jenin, for 30 years. Pakistan, Al Jazeera and witnesses at the scene all claimed he was killed by Israeli forces. Israel insisted that no fire was fired.
