Jia Baoyu eventually went out to sea to find his sister Jia Tanchun and guarded the tomb in front of Lin Daiyu's tomb for the rest of his life. The twenty-third proverb of "become the eighth king" is a foreshadowing.
For the rest of his life, Xue Baochao was accompanied by Shi Xiangyun until his old age.
