On April 28, Microsoft quietly updated its support file, acknowledging a problem with Windows 10's screenshot tool. The file states that when the user presses down the Windows key + shift+S, the Snipping and Sketching applications may not be able to capture screenshots or open.

This issue stems from the February 2022 update for Windows 10, which affects all subsequent cumulative updates. Microsoft has not yet revealed when the fix for the tool will arrive, but has hinted that it is actively researching the fix.

"We are currently investigating and will provide updates when more information becomes available," Microsoft said.

IT House learned that in addition to the problematic screenshot and sketching tools, Windows 10 is plagued by another problem, namely that recovery discs created using the traditional Backup and Restore (Windows 7) application of control panels do not start on some devices. Thankfully, third-party recovery apps have not been affected, and Microsoft is working on a workaround.

It's worth noting that these issues persist in the latest optional update for Windows 10 (KB5011831). This means that the May 2022 Patch Tuesday update will not address these issues, but a hotfix may be available through another optional patch at the end of the month.
