Microsoft Win10 Build 19044.1566 is released

KB5010415 is an optional update designed for deployment on production devices that is considered more secure than the technology preview versions available on channels such as Dev or Beta. In general, it's a good idea to skip optional updates unless you really need that patch to fix an isolated issue in your system.

Today's optional updates include fixes that will be bundled in future cumulative updates, such as the upcoming March 2022 "Tuesday Patch" release, or even the April 2022 "Tuesday Patch". This is because the latest update also applies fixes that were missing from previous updates.

This release has two new features, but they are aimed at enterprise or premium customers. Based on the changelog, you can now share cookies between Microsoft Edge Internet Explorer mode and Microsoft Edge. Similarly, Microsoft added support for hot add and remove non-volatile memory (NVMe).

The update for Windows 10 KB5010415 (Build 19044.1566) is as follows:

For businesses, there are several bug fixes. For example, an issue where Windows Server 2016 stops responding when you run a terminal server with some VDI has been resolved in this update. This error results in a regression where Windows proactively checks the state of CSharedLock in the rpcss .exe.

Windows Search has a quality issue, and Microsoft is trying to fix at least one bug with today's optional update. According to the release notes, Microsoft fixed an issue that affected Windows Search that occurred when a user tried the Neighbor Operator feature.

Another bug has been fixed where the wmipicmp.dll module caused a memory leak due to an error alert in System Center Operations Manager (SCOM). Microsoft also fixed an issue where users encountered an error message when browsing a domain or organizational unit.

Microsoft also fixed an issue where Task Manager was not correctly displaying startup impact values such as low, medium, or high.

Microsoft fixed a bug where OpenGL and GPUs were causing problems in certain display scenarios and prevented ShellWindows () from returning objects.

There is also a fix for those planning to upgrade to Windows 11 who are having trouble checking the TPM status using Get-TPM PowerShell. This command apparently fails to report information from the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) with the error "0x80090011".

Windows 10 Optional Update also fixes driver issues. After the update, when the driver is protected with HVCI, you will no longer have to uninstall and reload the driver.

Other bug fixes include:

Fixed an issue that affected the use of remote desktops.

Fixed an issue with the built-in screen reader.

Fixed virtual machine live migration failure.

Fixed an issue that caused the WebDav Redirector to have a deadlock.

In addition to the Windows 10 cumulative update, Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 patch (KB5010414) that brings several new features.
