On April 21, the new fifth-generation Range Rover was launched online, and a total of four long-wheelbase models were launched in the series, with a price range of 1.468-2.498 million yuan. As a new replacement, the exterior and interior of the new car have been upgraded and the technical configuration has been greatly improved. Based on the latest MLA-FLEX architecture, the new Range Rover is powered by a 3.0T inline six-cylinder engine + 48V micromix system and a 4.4T V8 twin-turbo engine available in two versions.
The new generation of Range Rover inherits the family's classic exterior design, on the basis of retaining classic elements, incorporating a more modern minimalist aesthetic design. The prominently lined mid-mesh model adopts a flat design and is integrated with the interactive headlights, which are equipped with intelligent digital LED headlights with a beam range of up to 500 meters, and combine Signature daytime running lights, dynamic turn signals, adaptive high beams and welcome lights.
The side design of the new car is more simple, and the iconic "shark gill" design is more understated and restrained. The roof still uses range rover's classic suspension design, while the stern-style rear bumper is retained. The new car is available in two sizes, standard wheelbase and long wheelbase, of which the "Model Extended Edition" is the long wheelbase version, with a length, width and height of 5252/2047/1870 mm and a wheelbase of 3197 mm, which is an increase in size compared to the current Range Rover long shaft version.
The rear design of the new Range Rover has been controversial, with the biggest point of controversy focusing on the design of the tail light group. The tail light cluster of the new car adopts a hidden design, the LED tail light is hidden in the bright black decorative strip at the tail, and the tail light can be integrated with the black trim strip that runs through the "RANGE ROVER" when the tail light is extinguished, and the light is well recognized, while the turn signal is hidden on both sides of the "RANGE ROVER" letter. Although the taillight group of the new Range Rover is not inferior to the current mainstream pure electric SUV in terms of technology, the light group size is small and does not create the domineering feeling that this level of model should have.
The interior design of the new generation of Range Rover is more minimalistic, and Kcadrat's new eco-friendly materials in cooperation with Land Rover still convey a sense of luxury and grade. The car is equipped with the latest InControl OS 2.0 infotainment system, the central control is 13.7-inch Pivi Pro HD curved touch screen to undertake most of the vehicle's functions, and provide Amazon Alexa intelligent voice interaction system. In terms of details, the air conditioning control area adopts a combination of touch + physical knob operation, and there are a large number of matte aluminum trim panels and wood grain trim around the electronic shift lever.
The new Range Rover Model Extended Edition features a 2+3 seat layout with a 3197 mm wheelbase, a large adjustment range in the second row of seats, electric armrests and privacy curtains, and a Meridian Prestige sound system with third-generation active noise reduction technology for further enhanced comfort. In terms of seat configuration, the new Range Rover has increased the cushions on both sides, improved the support structure of the shoulders, thereby improving comfort, and the design of the seat has become more classy.
As the first model to be built in the MLA-Flex luxury electrification architecture, the new generation range Rover has more than 50 electronic control units and supports Software Online Upgrade Technology (SOTA). The power part is equipped with invigilation 3.0T in-line six-cylinder engine + 48V micromix system and 4.4T V8 twin-turbo engine. The P530 model, equipped with a 4.4T twin-turbo V8 engine, has a maximum power of 530 hp and a peak torque of 750 Nm.
The low-power (P360) model equipped with a 3.0T in-line six-cylinder engine + 48V micromix system has a maximum power of 360 hp and a peak torque of 500 Nm; the high-power (P400) model has a maximum power of 400 hp and a peak torque of 550 Nm, and the transmission is matched with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the drive form is four-wheel drive, equipped with Advanced Dynamic Response Pro and intelligent all-wheel drive system (iAWD).
