Preface to the "Exhibition of Artists' Works of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Lanting Award of Chinese Calligraphy"

Wu Weishan, director of the National Art Museum of China

Eastern Jin Dynasty Yonghe Ninth Year Shangwei Festival, Zhejiang Huiji Shanxia, Gao Shi ya collection, Lanting Xiuyu, Qushui Liuqin, talent and poetry, literary style... An ancient "Orchid Pavilion Preface" was born! The literary and calligraphy complement each other perfectly, the charm is extraordinary, it has become a classic of Chinese culture, and in the following thousands of years, it has been chased by the hearts of the people of the world, so it has become a Fa Ti. Emperor Taizong of Tang ordered a large number of copies of the Orchid Pavilion Preface, so that the Feng facsimile, Yu facsimile, and Chu facsimile have been passed down to this day. Yan Liben's "Xiao Yi Earn Lan Ting Tu" gives the story of the "Orchid Pavilion Preface" a mysterious color. Over time, by the Qing Dynasty, there were hundreds of versions of the Orchid Pavilion Preface, and the Qianlong Emperor carved eight representative of them as the "Eight Pillars of the Orchid Pavilion", which is now standing in Zhongshan Park in Beijing. In the 1960s, Guo Moruo and Gao Ershi's "Lanting Debate" moved the literary world, and the attention and discussion of "Lanting Preface" reached a climax.

From this, it is obvious that the significance of the Orchid Pavilion Preface as a distinctive symbol of Chinese calligraphy and Chinese culture is inevitable. Lanting has also become a famous cultural shrine in China. The Lanting Award of Chinese Calligraphy, named after "Lan Ting", is indeed like a meandering stream, passing on the traditional context of calligraphy to this era. The Chinese Calligraphy Lanting Award is the highest award in Chinese calligraphy art, and the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Chinese Calligraphy Lanting Award, which is the "Lanting Award" in the Lanting Award, is the highest praise for calligraphy workers who have made outstanding contributions to the cause of calligraphy in the mainland, aged 75 or above, who are highly respected and virtuous.

There are talented people in the Jiangshan generation. The 1st to 5th Chinese Calligraphy Lanting Award lifetime achievement award was won by Pan Zhonglan, Qi Gong, Wang Xuezhong, Li Duo, Shen Peng, Ouyang Zhongshi, Sun Qifeng, Liu Jiang, Sha Manweng, Yao Dianzhong, Wei Tianchi, Chen Fangjie, Liu Yi, Sun Boxiang and Zhou Huijun. Starting from the 6th Chinese Calligraphy Lanting Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Chinese Calligraphy Lanting Award will no longer be established and selected, but will be selected by the Presidium of the China Book Association and approved by the China Federation of Literature and Literature, and awarded the title of "Lifetime Achievement Calligrapher of the China Federation of Literature and Literature", the sixth session is Gao Shixiong and Zhang Hai, and the seventh session is Shen Ding'an and Duan Chenggui.

As the core of Chinese culture, calligraphy lies not only in the external form of calligraphy, including the use of pen, ink, structure, chapter method, etc. of calligraphy, but also in the creation of Chinese culture and aesthetics in different periods. Calligraphy uses words as the carrier to construct the world of literature, the artistic conception of poetry and the emotion of art in the flat space, which can be said to be the bottom of the pen, containing "ink and ink", good water flowing rhyme, and words spitting fanghua. Judging from the winners of the Lanting Award for Lifetime Achievement, they seem to have come from the ancient sages, with literary meaning, wrapped in poetry, leading a group of disciples, writing in the book world, leaving new ink marks for the times...

The National Art Museum of China is the highest temple of Chinese art. Calligraphy has always been an important category of attention in the development of the National Art Museum of China, and the number of calligraphy works in the collection is numerous and high-quality. We hope that the great river of China will continue to integrate new currents into the great river of the National Art Museum of China, and merge into the ocean of human civilization with unceasing rushing. The progress of human society has benefited from the creation of generation after generation, and this kind of creation is constantly innovating in the change of the times. The Jin people are still yun, the Tang people are still law, the Song people are still yi, and today's calligraphy should be still literate and new.

The National Art Museum of China Academic Invitation Series exhibition is a series of exhibitions set up for accomplished artists and groups. This exhibition is the first collective presentation of the artists of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the China Calligraphy Lanting Award, with Mr. Zhang Hai as the academic host and exhibition promoter. The exhibition venue is the Kaiqu Hall of the National Art Museum of China, which is the space where the calligraphy of Mr. Tai Youren and Gao Ershi has just been exhibited. This alludes to the fact that the inheritance and development of the art of calligraphy is composed of milestones. On the occasion of the Festival of The First Moon, we look forward to the calligraphers writing a new version of the "Orchid Pavilion Preface" for the new era.
