On April 1, Toyota officially released the fourth model of the GR series, the GR Corolla. The new car will be available in two versions, the Core edition and the Ciruit Edition edition. The Core edition is expected to hit the U.S. market by the end of 2022, and the Circuit Edition edition will be available in 2023.
In terms of appearance, GR Corolla is based on the Corolla hatchback version of the model, on which more details in line with the performance settings have been added. The large mid-mesh meets the visual needs while providing more adequate heat dissipation for the engine, and the air intakes on both sides of the front surround with the front lip winding plate make it look wider while satisfying the aerodynamic settings. The Core edition will be available in black, white and red, and the Ciruit Edition will be available in white, red and gray.
As the only four-door model in the Toyota GR series, the GR Corolla has more practicality than the previous three models. The fenders are equipped with vents to dissipate heat from the front brakes in time. Gr Corolla comes with 18-inch wheels, 4-piston calipers, and the tire options are the Michelin PS4S series. The "GR-Four" logo on the side skirt always highlights its four-wheel drive attributes. The rear three exhausts layout is obviously matched with the three-cylinder engine, and the exaggerated diffuser makes people dare not underestimate the three-cylinder engine.
In terms of interior, the barrel seat with the GR steering wheel meets people's expectations, the seat is made of leather plus Alcantara and webbing stitching, and the full LCD instrument panel can provide richer driving information. Adaptive cruise and lane keeping capabilities allow it to meet the driving needs of everyday commutes.
In terms of power, gr corolla is based on the upgraded GA-C platform, equipped with a G16E-GTS 1.6T three-cylinder engine, with a maximum power of 300 horsepower and a maximum torque of 370 Nm. The drivetrain will be supplied with a 6-speed manual transmission and a GR-Four four-wheel drive system, and the Circuit Edition model will also be equipped with front and rear limited-slip differentials.
