Chip supply issues or improvements? Joining forces, Nvidia wants Intel to do it

Recently, there have been big problems in the chip supply chain. As the world's most important supplier of key semiconductor materials, Russia and Ukraine cannot fully deliver materials due to the impact of the situation in Russia and Ukraine, resulting in setbacks in the global chip industry.

However, it is highly likely that the situation will improve in the near future.

Chip supply issues or improvements? Joining forces, Nvidia wants Intel to do it

On March 23, local time, according to media reports, Nvidia Corp CEO Huang Jenxun said that Nvidia is very interested in letting Intel (Intel Corp) build its chips. As soon as this remark came out, Intel's stock price immediately rose 2.5%.

Jen-Hsun Huang added that Intel is interested in using their foundry and we are also very interested in exploring this possibility. However, the discussion of the foundry contract will take some time, and the integration of the supply chains of the two sides must be decided through research, which is not as simple as buying a bottle of milk.

Recently, Intel has been poaching people from Apple and wants to "swallow" tower semiconductors, with the purpose of expanding business and restoring competitiveness.

Earlier last year, Intel announced several multibillion-dollar foundry projects and the establishment of new manufacturing centers in the United States and Europe. Last week, Intel said it would invest nearly $85 billion in the European Union over the next decade and $20 billion in Ohio to build two fabs. In this way, Intel has really worked hard to revive its strength.

As the world's two largest chip giants, Intel and Nvidia occupy an extremely important position in the market. Intel is the global CPU leader, and NVIDIA is the global GPU leader, and both have excellent technical capabilities. Moreover, Nvidia wants more chip foundries, and Intel actively seeks foundry orders, and the two sides complement each other.

On March 23, local time, after the hearing held by the US Senate Commerce Committee, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger also said that Nvidia is interested in using its foundry capacity, but it is not yet in the planning stage and still needs further discussion.

If "Britain" can really join hands, it will be able to effectively alleviate the situation of "chip shortage" in the future period of time.
