Blue Whale TMT channel on March 22, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the economic operation of the communication industry in January and February 2022, showing that from January to February, the total revenue of telecommunications services reached 258.6 billion yuan, an increase of 9% year-on-year, and the growth rate increased by 3.2 percentage points year-on-year. The total amount of telecommunications services at constant prices of the previous year increased by 23.4% year-on-year.
From January to February, the revenue of the three basic telecommunications enterprises completed the Internet broadband business was 38.7 billion yuan, an increase of 8.5% year-on-year, accounting for 15% of the telecommunications business revenue, accounting for the same period last year; the completed mobile data traffic business revenue was 107.2 billion yuan, an increase of 1.5% year-on-year, accounting for 41.5% of the telecom business revenue.
At the same time, the revenue growth rate of emerging businesses is outstanding. The three basic telecommunications enterprises actively developed emerging services such as IPTV, Internet data centers, big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things, and completed a total of 50.8 billion yuan of emerging business revenue from January to February, an increase of 34.1% year-on-year, accounting for 19.6% of telecommunications business revenue, driving telecommunications business revenue to increase by 5.5 percentage points. Among them, the revenue of cloud computing and big data increased by 124.6% and 58% year-on-year, respectively, the revenue of data center business increased by 20.6% year-on-year, and the revenue of Internet of Things business increased by 21.9% year-on-year.
The revenue of the voice business continued to decline. From January to February, the three basic telecom enterprises completed fixed voice and mobile voice service revenue of 3.29 billion yuan and 17.6 billion yuan, down 13.5% and 5.5% year-on-year, respectively, accounting for 8.1% of the total revenue of telecommunications services.
As for the development of telecommunications users, as of the end of February, the total number of fixed Internet broadband access users of the three basic telecommunications enterprises reached 545 million, a net increase of 9.3 million over the end of the previous year; the total number of mobile phone users reached 1.651 billion, a net increase of 7.78 million over the end of the previous year, of which 5G mobile phone users reached 384 million, a net increase of 29.05 million over the end of the previous year, accounting for 23.3% of the total number of mobile phone users. Cellular IoT end-users reached 1.464 billion, a net increase of 64.49 million over the end of the previous year, and the total number of IPTV (network television) users reached 357 million, a net increase of 8.24 million over the end of the previous year.
In terms of 5G base station construction, as of the end of February, the total number of 5G base stations reached 1.506 million, accounting for 15% of the total number of mobile base stations. Among them, 81,000 new 5G base stations were built from January to February.
