Recently, volkswagen group announced that it will recall Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport in the United States (the domestic counterpart is SAIC Volkswagen Tuon / Tuon X). It is reported that the main reason for this recall is the safety hazard introduced by the airbag wiring harness. As of this writing, SAIC Volkswagen has not issued any statement on whether the domestic Production of Tuan/Tuan X is affected by this recall.

According to a technical report released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), vehicles involved in the recall had lateral airbags detonated later than they were designed. This means that in the event of a side impact, the occupants of the car may not receive the protection provided by the side airbags and face a greater chance of injury and safety risks.

According to the report, the main reason for this is that the harness of the vehicle's A-pillar will rub against the metal parts when the vehicle is driving due to lack of fixation, resulting in rubber wear on the surface of the harness, damage to the harness, and cause circuit breaks. Affected by this, the vehicle's airbag fault warning light may be lit. In extreme conditions, automatic window drops when driving, automatic braking of vehicles at low speeds, and door sensor fault warnings may occur.
