Introduction:
This book is a collection of biographies of 70 archaeologists who have had a major impact on the development of archaeology, outlining the trajectory of archaeology since the mid-19th century. This book faithfully presents the readers with the perseverance and persistence, wisdom and foresight, confusion and unwillingness of these pioneers of archaeology... Their storied experiences echo some important moments in world history: the rise of science and the widespread acceptance of evolutionary theory; the expansion and decolonization of Western colonialism; the awakening of women and the rise of feminism; the rise of postmodernism in the 1970s... This book is highly readable, both as a popular book of archaeology and as a work of archaeological history and history of science.
An archaeological history intertwined with the wonderful lives of 70 archaeologists, it will take you to appreciate the vicissitudes of archaeology in the past 300 years and witness the great moments of archaeology and human history!
Through the life stories of 70 archaeologists, a "History of Archaeology" leads readers into archaeology, understand archaeology, and love archaeology!!!
Through these intelligent, imaginative and individualistic figures, we not only understand what qualities we need to have to be archaeologists, but also make us aware of the contribution of archaeology to human understanding. The book's binding design and illustration options make reading this book an enjoyable experience. Its words have a powerful power. - Archaeology of Britain
