On March 17, the BMW Group announced the formal acquisition of alpina, a professional modification brand, which is also the fourth independent brand after BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce. ALPINA mainly adjusts the engine, gearbox, chassis and aerodynamic design of BMW's production vehicles to further improve the performance of the vehicle, and the future models will compete with Mercedes-Benz and Audi's royal modification brands Babos and ABT.
ALPINA signed a renewal agreement with the BMW Group at the end of 2020, and its partnership lasted until the end of 2025, when the BMW Group will officially gain full control of ALPINA. In addition, ALPINA's Buchloe division will no longer produce vehicles, but its after-sales service, accessories and other businesses will continue to operate. Previously, ALPINA had introduced sales in the domestic market, and with more in-depth cooperation with the BMW Group, more modified models will be launched in the future, and it is not excluded that it will return to the Chinese market.
In addition to adjusting the performance of the vehicle, ALPINA will also upgrade the appearance and interior, mainly based on BMW's luxury suit model, including oval four-out exhaust, exclusive front and rear surround design, large displacement engine, iconic pulling, CLASSIC multi-spoke wheels, hand-sewn leather interior, etc. At present, ALPINA's overseas models on sale include D3 S, B3, D5 S, B5, XD3, XD4, B7, XB7, B8, which are based on BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, X3, X4, 7 Series, X7 and 8 Series.
