At present, Cao Sugong National Intangible Cultural Heritage Productive Protection Demonstration Base Project has completed the completion of basic civil construction and fire control acceptance, the next step will be to build a set of intangible cultural heritage products handicraft, intangible cultural heritage product display, traditional cultural education and intangible cultural heritage research "four major functions" as one of the pen and ink palace, all handmade processes will be transparent and visible, the visit route and production process by glass separated, to create a unique national intangible cultural heritage demonstration base.

Zhou Huchen and Cao Sugong brands are representative brands of Shanghai's "Chinese time-honored brands". In 2011, "Zhou Huchen Brush Making Technique" and "Cao Sugong Ink Ingot Making Technique" were also included in the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative projects by the State Council. In 2014, the former Ministry of Culture awarded Shanghai Zhou Huchen Cao Sugong Pen and Ink Co., Ltd. the title of "National Intangible Cultural Heritage Productive Protection Demonstration Base".
