With a history of more than 350 years, Cao Sugong Huimo is the creator and witness of traditional Chinese culture, and the pen and ink culture is an important carrier of the inheritance of Chinese character civilization. From the relocation of Cao Sugong Ink Factory to the current site of Nanshan Road in 1917, it has lasted more than 100 years, as the enterprise with the longest surviving history of ink production in China, it has continuously developed and carried forward the traditional pen and ink production technology, and has won two national intangible cultural heritage techniques and a national intangible cultural heritage productive protection demonstration base.

In February 2019, the Hongnan Mountain House plot where the ink factory is located was included in the scope of the old city reconstruction. The century-old factory is about to usher in a new turnaround and development. In order to better safeguard the collection rights and interests of Cao Sugong Ink Factory, Zhijiang West Road Street has cooperated with the District Old Reform General Office for many times, coordinated with the Municipal Cppcc Committee, the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the District Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the District Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources, the Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage Association and other units, and cooperated with the ink factory to find a better relocation area.

In the process of coordination that lasted one and a half years, due to the limitations of various objective conditions such as "environmental impact assessment" standards and regional planning, the coordination plan changed its draft several times. Finally, with the joint efforts of many parties, Cao Sugong Ink Factory finally found a new base for starting again - the military industrial road near the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, which not only effectively guaranteed the inheritance of "intangible cultural heritage", but also provided valuable experience related to the "intangible cultural heritage collection" for the city's old reform and collection work.

"The first bottle of ink that Allah used was Cao Sugong." At the relocation ceremony, some residents who love calligraphy said so. In recent years, when it was learned that the "Cao Sugong" relocation plan was put on the agenda, residents came to punch the clock, and waves of "memory killing" were staged from time to time.

Xu Ming and Wu Qingchun, two state-level non-hereditary inheritors of Shanghai Zhou Huchen Cao Sugong Pen and Ink Co., Ltd., also expressed their deep love for the land of Zhijiang West. They used to have a good friendship with the residents here. Over the years, many employees in the factory have also chosen to settle in Zhijiangxi, a place full of fireworks and humanity. "When the Hongnan Mountain house plot was relocated, many residents came to say goodbye to us." Two national non-hereditary inheritors also paid tribute to the residents of ZhijiangXi, and they presented Cao Sugong ink and Zhou Huchen pens and "customized" calligraphy works, full of affection.
