Choose one thing, for the rest of her life, she tells the "national memory" behind porcelain.

"Choose one thing, for the rest of your life."

"I love ceramics and love China's national treasures."

"As long as my body allows, I will insist on making ceramics."

Choose one thing, for the rest of her life, she tells the "national memory" behind porcelain.

On the afternoon of April 15th, Ji Xigui, the representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage Yue kiln celadon firing technique, walked into Zhejiang City College to tell the Chinese story behind the "7501" chairman's use of porcelain, carry forward the spirit of labor and craftsmanship, and ignite and stimulate the youthful ingenuity of young students.

During the lecture, Ji Xigui introduced in detail to the teachers and students of the City Academy the historical background and firing process of the birth of the "7501" Chairman Mao special porcelain. From the preparation of the best raw materials to the design of the modeling picture, the craftsmanship spirit of excellence and excellence runs through the entire production process of "7501" porcelain.

As the leader of the underglaze team, Ji Xigui faced a huge test of different double-sided patterns of porcelain when firing double-sided hibiscus flower bowls. After hundreds of experiments, she finally developed a "unique skill" and achieved the best effect of overlapping patterns inside and outside the ceramic. It is this tireless and innovative ingenuity that "7501" porcelain has become a bright pearl in the history of Chinese ceramics and plays a pivotal role in the history of Chinese ceramics. "'7501' porcelain marks that China's daily porcelain has entered the ranks of international famous products, and China's ceramic industry has begun to integrate with the international standards, which is unprecedented." As a Chinese ceramicist, Ji Xigui is deeply proud of this.

Since then, Ji Xigui has participated in many major projects related to ceramics. In 2016, Ji Xigui served as the chief designer of the porcelain picture for the state banquet of the G20 Hangzhou Summit; in 2017, the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government recognized him as the first "Hangzhou Craftsman"; in 2019, he was awarded the "Salary Transmission Award" for the representative heir of the national intangible cultural heritage...

Today, the 81-year-old Ji Xigui is still contributing to the cause of ceramics in China. "Inheriting traditional craftsmanship and passing it on to the next generation is my mission as a ceramic man." In 2013, Ji Xigui led the students to successfully restore the 7501 underglaze color plum bamboo series on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Chairman Mao's birth, and improved the previous process to reproduce the style of "7501" porcelain. Behind the style of "white as jade, thin as paper, bright as a mirror, sound as a chime", is the tenacity of Ji Xigui for decades, the inheritance and continuation of unique skills, and the continuous advancement of China's ceramic industry.

Not for the prosperity of easy ingenuity, do not give up the original intention to always. The teachers and students at the scene were infected by Ji Xigui's craftsman spirit, and also respected the inheritors of contemporary intangible cultural heritage.

"Following the footsteps of intangible cultural heritage, I am proud of the profound Chinese culture! The spirit of craftsmanship and labor model possessed by non-hereditary inheritors is worth learning and carrying forward, which is the precious spiritual wealth of the Chinese nation. Chen Yixiao of the 2101 class of finance at UW College was deeply touched after listening to the lecture, and she said that she will learn more about China's intangible cultural heritage in the future and contribute to the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage.

With the passage of time, the "red plum green bamboo" and the double-sided hibiscus flower bowl are still shining in the history of the development of Chinese ceramics, and the spirit of the intangible cultural heirs like Ji Xigui will also be passed down from generation to generation in the long river of history, inspiring generations of young people to cherish and guard this precious "national memory".
