Shanghai, January 1 (Xinhua) -- During the New Year's Day of 2022, 60 pieces of celadon from Longquan, Zhejiang Province, are on display at the Minhang District Museum in Shanghai, showing the development characteristics and firing techniques of Longquan celadon from ancient times to the present.
Clear as the autumn sky, quiet as the deep sea. Longquan kiln is a historical kiln with the longest firing time, the widest range of kiln systems, the best product quality and the widest sales range in the history of Chinese ceramics. It began in the Three Kingdoms and Two Jin Dynasties, arose in the Northern Song Dynasty, reached its peak from the Southern Song Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty, and began to decline in the late Ming Dynasty, but the kiln fire continues to this day.

The masterpieces of contemporary arts and crafts are displayed in a collection of 23 pieces, some of which are unique with ice cracks. Ice crack, also known as open piece yuan, is an ancient Chinese ceramic firing process, because of its grain such as ice cracking, crack layering, three-dimensional sense and so on. Because of its unique cracking during the firing process, it shows unlimited natural beauty.

It is reported that the process of firing ice cracks was once lost, becoming a mystery of a thousand years, and then painstakingly developed by the craftsmen of Longquan, Zhejiang Province, so that the ice cracks could reappear in the world and shine again.
