Why not buy Switch? Steam handhelds are out of stock: shipments have to wait for half a year

On March 8, Steam Deck's booking interface showed that any booking orders won't actually be placed until after the third quarter of 2022, which means that the Steam Deck booked now won't actually ship until at least October.

Steam Deck was expected to ship in December last year, but due to a shortage of parts, it had to skip tickets until February this year. Valve designer Greg Coomer explains why Steam Deck keeps being delayed, mainly due to the lack of corresponding parts, with about 50 parts in a state of severe stock.

Now it seems that the steam deck parts shortage problem will continue, and consumers who are interested in buying may wish to order early. It's worth mentioning that Steam Deck is currently only available in a few regions, excluding Chinese mainland.

The severe shortage of steam decks also reflects the player's pursuit of the device. As a portable handheld produced by Valve, it will carry many Valve's first-party games, some games are even exclusive to Steam Deck.

Earlier this month, Valve released Aperture Tech Part-time, a game built specifically for Steam Deck, based on the puzzle game Portal universe, which is free for Steam Deck users to download. In the future, Valve will also have more such Steam Deck exclusive games to continue to promote the sales of the product.

I have to say that at the beginning of the design, the hardware product of Steam Deck is like it was specially designed to fight Against Switch. It is similar to the screen quality of switch, Steam Deck uses a 7-inch 800P screen (16:10 ratio), supports DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0, the hardware configuration of the interface can only be said to be enough, and has not yet reached a particularly top level.

The advantage of reducing the hardware configuration is that the cost will also be low, so that a relatively low price (64GB 399 US dollars) can be set, which can attract more users to buy Steam Deck, so that the steam platform turnover can continue to climb.

The Switch's hardware quality is not high, and its great success is that Nintendo has developed phenomenal games like Zelda. If Valve can also launch and develop a similar game, don't worry about Steam Deck selling well.
