The portability of the Steam Deck handheld is one of its highlights, and its powerful features and high cost performance make it loved by many players. However, its shortcomings are also obvious, the endurance is more general, and there are more stringent performance limitations. In some large games, it is difficult to achieve a stable 60 frames, but if you lock 30 frames one by one, you will waste some of your function.
However, this won't be a problem in the future, as Valve's developers have confirmed that Steam Deck will offer an "alternative refresh rate" feature in the future. This means that games with frames that go up and down between 30 - 60 frames will be stabilized at 40 FPS.
According to pierre-Loup Griffais, a programmer at 60Hz, at a refresh rate of 60Hz, the screen can only evenly display 15, 30, and 60 frames, and not locking the content of these frames will cause the picture to tear, which is a bad experience.
So once Valve releases this feature, users will be able to set the device's display to 40Hz, keeping the screen and frame count consistent, somewhat similar to the VRR feature provided by Xbox. However, at present, the V Society has not yet announced the specific release time of this feature, and players who have purchased Steam Deck can look forward to it.
