Just after going to work, Xiaoli received the teacher's WeChat, saying that her son was in trouble again at school, and colleagues discussed and found that most of the people who did not study well and often ran into trouble were boys, and most of the poor students in the child's class were also boys, is this an inevitable rule?
According to the "Outline for the Development of Chinese Women (2011-2020)" released by the National Bureau of Statistics, female postgraduate students account for 50.9%, female general undergraduate students account for 51%, and female adult undergraduate students account for 58%.

According to the data of the seventh national census, the ratio of men to women is 51.24% to 48.67%. That is to say, in the case of a larger male than female base, women still achieve more than half of their good grades in school. It can be seen that school education seems to be more suitable for girls.
If you are also worried about your son's academic performance, how is it so difficult to let the boy open up? Don't miss this issue to help you unravel the mysteries from the perspective of brain science.
Authoritative research results
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), after a three-year study of 35 countries around the world, found that girls are one year to one and a half years ahead of boys in literacy, and this gap begins in kindergarten and runs throughout the student's career. In the book "Raising Boys with High Emotional Intelligence", a Harvard researcher said that a boy with ordinary talent will face special difficulties in school. In the book "Real Boys", it is mentioned that a Harvard University psychological research result shows that compared with girls, boys not only have more fragile self-esteem and less confidence in their ability to learn, but also are obviously more likely to violate discipline, be ordered to leave school, or even withdraw from school.
All kinds of research show that boys do face greater challenges when they are students.
Of course, it is not excluded that many boys have become school bullies, but on average, in addition to a few boys at the head, most ordinary, ordinary boys will encounter great difficulties in school education, and they need parents and teachers, more love and understanding.
3 characteristics of the boy brain
Why is it so hard for boys to want to learn well? This is determined by the peculiarities of their brains, and a study by Nancy Fogger, a scholar at the University of Massachusetts in the United States, found that there are at least 100 differences between the brains of men and women.
In terms of learning, the 3 characteristics of boys' brains determine that they will learn harder.
1. The learning mode is not compatible
Boys' brains, more dependent on spatial, manipulative, structured, motor-specific stimuli, are able to be activated.
For example, in the three-dimensional geometry class, the teacher brought a lot of three-dimensional models, and also let the students touch and swing, please believe that the boys in this class can learn more knowledge.
But unfortunately, in school education, the form of teaching outside the number of main words is that the teacher speaks + the students listen, which is called simple language stimulation, in this learning mode, the boy's brain is difficult to be activated, they will feel bored, will be distracted, restless or asleep.
Therefore, parents and teachers are reminded that if we want boys to learn more, we must combine language with hands-on, list grids, drawing and other operations, which is the right way to open the boys' brains.
2. Multi-tasking is prone to death
The human brain is made up of left and right brains, and the transverse bundles of nerve fibers that link the left and right brains, called the corpus called callosum, are responsible for communication between the two hemispheres of the brain.
Boys have smaller corpus callosums than girls, about 25 percent, which means that communication between the two cerebral hemispheres of boys is poor. Between the two hemispheres of the brain, the most prominent manifestation of high-level communication is multitasking, that is, being able to complete more than one task at the same time.
During the class, children need to listen to the teacher's lectures, take notes, draw key points, internalize new knowledge, turn it into something that can be applied, answer questions, express language, and sometimes have a classroom exam.
This is typically not a single task, so many boys, a class, just stare at the teacher, the notes are not remembered, this is still good concentration, more boys will be in front of multiple tasks, directly crashed, wandering the sky.
Because boys' brain activity is regional, they rarely use two brain regions at the same time, and the total blood flow in their brains is about 15% less than that of girls, coupled with differences in callosum, boys' brains are structurally unsuitable for multi-task learning.
So what to do in the face of this situation?
As parents, we must consciously reduce the requirements for boys, can not ask them to take notes, but also have neat handwriting, no typos, then where do they have the brain to listen to the lesson?
You will find that boys tend to perform better when they focus on a single task and perform deep learning, and if they are forced to switch between multiple tasks frequently, they will not only do not do well, they will directly pick the pick, but also be irritable and irritable, becoming a trickster in the classroom.
3. Violation of discipline is the norm
Neuroscientists at the University of Pennsylvania have found that boys' brains tend to enter a "resting state" as they renew themselves, recharge, and refocus their attention, when they hunch their eyes as if they are dozing off.
And the resting state is especially important for the brain activity of boys. But if you encounter a state of rest in class, that's a big problem.
Most of the students who dozed off in class were boys, most of the homework was written and fell asleep, and most of the students who fidgeted in their seats, looked left and right, and tapped pencils were also boys, because this was a self-stimulating way for them to force themselves to stay awake and continue learning.
So, if you're a teacher, be nice to the boys in the class, who sometimes really don't mean it. If you are the parent of a boy, you can also use your finger to forward this content so that more teachers can see this knowledge point!
Girls, on the other hand, have more blood flow in their brains, so they often don't enter a resting state when their brains are charged and restarted. That is to say, even if girls are bored while attending a lesson and need to refocus their attention, they do not have to pretend to sleep at all, and they can continue to keep their eyes open, listen to the lesson and take notes. Because the girl's brain is resting, the blood flow is still very active.
Zhen Zhen summed up
It is precisely because of these 3 characteristics of the boys' brains that they have obvious disadvantages in the traditional school education model.
If parents can recognize this, give the little boy more space and understanding, give them a more suitable task, I believe that they can also grow into capable and responsible man in the future!
Don't blame them for bad grades and bad performance, because for boys, lack of confidence is more terrible than poor grades.
