Song Dynasty painter Guo Xi
Guo Xi (c. 1000–1090) was a Northern Song Dynasty painter and painting theorist. Zi Chunfu was a native of Wen County, Heyang (present-day eastern Mengxian County, Henan).
Born a commoner, he believed in Taoism in his early years, swam outside the square, and was famous for his paintings. Xi Ning was summoned to the academy in the first year, and later served as the head of the Hanlin Dynasty. Landscape master Fa Li Cheng, mountain stone created a pen shaped like cirrus clouds, posterity known as "cirrus clouds".
The branches of Guo Xi's works are drooping like crab claws, the brushwork is majestic, and the ink is clear. Paint mountain stones mostly with cirrus clouds or grimaces. Xi Ning (1068-1077) studied art at the Chinese Painting Academy, and later served as the head of the Hanlin Imperial Academy, becoming an important member of the Imperial Academy. In the early years, the style was more skillful, and in his later years, he turned majestic, often making long pine trees on the high walls of the giant mantle, quxi cliffs, beautiful peaks, and the realm was majestic and flexible. Surviving works include "Early Spring Map", "Guanshan Spring Snow Map", "Pingyuan Map of The Stone", "Valley Map" and so on
This ancestor had his own theory of the creation of landscape painting.
In "Lin Quan Gao Zhi", Guo Xi talked about the theory of landscape and water in this way: "The mountain looks like this, the distance is seen for miles, and it is so far away, and every distance is different, and the so-called mountain shape moves step by step." The front of the mountain is so, the side is like this, the back is like this, every time you look different, the so-called mountain-shaped face looks at it. The mystery in these words can be seen how familiar Guo Xi is with the method of changing scenery in landscape painting.
His son Guo Si recalled the scene when his father Guo Xi painted in the past, saying, "On the day of the pen, there will be a few clear windows and incense... What is camped, what is done, what has been increased, what has been moistened, what can be done, what can be done again, what can be done again, what is restored, and what is done again, every figure will repeat itself and begins. ”
"Danqing is difficult to write is the spirit, the image is dismal in operation", a painter often has to go through a painful and struggling process in order to complete an excellent painting, and Guo Xi's process is particularly long and meaningful.
