Chinese jade has a long history, is world-famous, and has a profound jade culture. In the Three Character Classic, "jade is not sought," it is used to summarize the process of jade production, and to compare the truth that people's growth requires continuous learning. There is an old saying in the jade industry that "jade must have work, work must be intentional, and intention must be auspicious", which means that each exquisite jade carving work condenses the creation of the unity of heaven and man, reflecting the meaning of beautiful and auspicious.
Located in the K Hall on the fifth floor of the circular exhibition hall of the Capital Museum, the "Ancient Jade Art Exhibition", according to the current academic research on jade cultural relics, combined with specific cultural relics, is divided into three parts: "Neolithic to Southern and Northern Dynasties Period", "Sui Tang to Liaojin Period" and "Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties", from the time vertical of the development of jade craftsmanship, as well as the horizontal arrangement and combination of different types of jade, the basic context of jade development is displayed to the audience, reflecting the craft characteristics of different periods of jade development.
In order to help everyone understand the contents of the exhibition, the exhibition hall also designed a "list of major jade materials in ancient China", and some jade use schematic diagrams. The lighting in the exhibition hall is also a highlight, mainly based on the point light source, and the color temperature is based on the restoration of the true color, ensuring that the warm beauty of the jade artwork is presented in the best state. Among the exhibits are a large number of jade artifacts excavated from the tombs of princes and nobles, as well as jade objects with emperor's years and engraved imperial poems, highlighting the cultural characteristics of Beijing as the capital.
