After Beijing and Chongqing, the commercial landing cities of "Radish Run" have increased to three.

On February 25, Yangquan City officially issued two licenses to Baidu's self-driving travel service platform "Radish Run": the pilot license for the commercialization of autonomous driving services for intelligent and connected vehicles and the pilot license for the commercialization of unmanned travel services for intelligent connected vehicles. On February 27, Radish Run began to provide paid travel services for autonomous driving demonstration applications to the public.

According to reports, 30 sites were set up in the early stage of the Yangquan pilot, and the operating time lasted from 9:00 to 17:00, which was shorter than the previous Beijing pilot from 9:30 to 23:00. The operation route of the place takes the Yangquan High-tech Zone Government Affairs Center as the core, and the scope involves government affairs, residential, high-tech industrial zones, etc.

Consistent with the previous model, after the Yangquan commercialization pilot opens for operation, users can experience the autonomous driving service through the "Radish Run" App, and the car is equipped with a safety officer. However, the specific pricing method is still not known, and the official said that it "adopts the traditional mileage pricing model of the travel industry". According to the situation of the Beijing Yizhuang pilot, the initial subsidy of "Radish Run" is extremely large, and its pricing is close to that of Didi chauffeurs without subsidies.

In terms of vehicle configuration, Baidu still uses the modified Hongqi EV EHS-3, which is equipped with rotary lidar on the roof and is equipped with standard sensors such as millimeter-wave radar, ultrasonic radar and cameras.

On the day of the interface news reporter's test ride, the weather in Yangquan was relatively mild and the light was sufficient, and there was no safety officer taking over during the test ride of 6 km to 7 km. Due to the large number of vehicles in the urban section, the body is maintained at a speed of 20 km /h to 30 km/h, and the rest of the decisions are basically the same as those of human drivers.

There is only one exception, that is, when the front car hits the right light to prepare to pull over and stop, the body does not recognize this scene, and during the deceleration and braking of the front car, it cannot be timely to play the plate and bypass the left, but can only follow the brake stop, then restart and avoid to the left. This also occurs when there are non-motorized vehicles approaching nearby.

As a Baidu Apollo that provides the ability to drive behind it, its total test mileage has exceeded 21 million kilometers. In terms of platform, "Radish Run" has opened manned test operation services in eight cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Changsha, Cangzhou and Yangquan. In November 2021, "Radish Run" landed in Beijing as a pilot commercialization of autonomous driving travel services, and on December 4, it landed in Yongchuan, Chongqing.

In addition to the "Radish Run" commercialization pilot and then the next city, on February 25, Yangquan City's "Checheng Network" sub-project, that is, Baidu Apollo Park, opened and put into operation in Yangquan High-tech Industrial Development Zone.

Since the launch of the "Checheng Network" project, Yangquan City has built 44 vehicle road collaborative intelligent infrastructure intersections in the 100-kilometer two-way road in the urban area, and connected with 6 intersections built in the 2020 Shanxi Provincial Transportation Power Construction Pilot Autonomous Vehicle Road Collaborative Demonstration Zone Project to form a core regional infrastructure.

Through the integrated platform of the modified road network and the Yangquan Car City Network, the traffic conditions at each intersection can be observed in real time on the monitoring screen of Apollo Park, as well as the dispatch and operation of the "Radish Run" Robotaxi team, and the illegal vehicles on the road can also be captured in real time.

Among all the pilot cities of Baidu Apollo, Yangquan is more special, and Baidu CEO Robin Li is a Yangquan person. But in addition to this reason, Yangquan itself has some motivation to develop emerging industries.

In the past, Yangquan relied more on coal, an energy industry, and now it also hopes to use emerging technologies to transform the city's industrial structure. Yangquan itself is dominated by hilly and plain terrain, which is helpful for driverless enterprises to collect data and iterate algorithms. In addition, Yangquan itself has many mining areas, and there are also natural scene resources for the L4 level unmanned landing closed park.
